Your Private Jeep Excursion in Cozumel begins right outside your cruise ship's terminal in Cozumel. Your friendly private Jeep shore excursion guide will greet you and take you to your Jeep Wrangler vehicle (Jeeps will be standard stick shift unless you request automatic - use the comment box on your order form). You can choose the suggested itinerary below or customize your very own private Cozumel Jeep excursion with your guide. Remember, this is your private guide and jeep for the day! Just please discuss your desired sights and stops prior to the start as it is difficult if not impossible to back-track mid-excursion due to time and entrance fees.

After setting the plan, your bilingual jeep excursion guide will give you a short briefing about "how to drive" around the city and some security measures. Your valid US driver's license is required for all drivers - the minimum age to drive is 21 years old. The driving is on paved roads. 

The "typical" Jeep excursion itinerary will have you following the shore excursion guide on the cross-island road (also known as "transversal"), then heading south. Discover the best beaches in Cozumel and miles of virgin coastline, while you drive along the uncivilized east coast of Cozumel, natural white sandy beaches, rocky shore, blowholes, and turquoise water. Your next private Jeep excursion destination could be the famous Punta Sur Eco Park, the largest national ecological reserve in Cozumel. Note that all participants (adults and children) must pay the entrance fee of approximately $11.00 USD per participant at the gate. The first stop inside the park is to watch the crocodiles in their natural habitat from a safe lookout tower. You can spot exotic birds and wild flora everywhere. Next, you will visit the Caracol Mayan ruin, a small construction that despite its size was an important development of the Mayan civilization and served as a weather station. Don´t forget to climb the historic Celarain Lighthouse and enjoy the spectacular panoramic views of the Mexican Caribbean Sea!

As part of the option to stop at Punta Sur National Park, you could stop for a 45-minute guided snorkel tour at Punta Sur Park (keep in mind, you can choose the itinerary and activities during this private shore excursion). The reef is shallow and easy to access, ideal even for beginner snorkelers to feel comfortable and safe at all times. All necessary snorkel equipment will be provided. You may spot parrotfish, yellow-ribbon fish, sargent mayor fish, and sea turtles among other local Cozumel marine life. If guests choose not to go to Punta Sur, the snorkeling will take place at Palmar Beach Club. Located within the Chankanaab Marine Park boundaries, the shallow snorkeling is outstanding! Enjoy your delicious choices of fajitas, tacos, or quesadillas - chicken, beef, or fish. Drinks may be purchased at an additional charge during lunch.

Want to do something different? Try an informative visit to the Chocolate Factory. Or maybe switch out the visit to Punta Sur for a walk through San Gervasio Mayan Ruins, a relaxing horseback ride, and a fun ATV excursion (available at an additional cost - options to discuss with your guide).

You have the option to customize your excursion with a stop at El Cedral or you may even drive around downtown San Miguel and take pictures of the beautiful monuments, churches, and fountains of the city or stop for some shopping. Your Jeep shore excursion ends when your guide takes you back to the meeting point from where it is just a short walk back to your Cozumel cruise ship after a day full of private Cozumel sightseeing shore excursion fun, memories, and gorgeous landscapes.

Traveling with little ones? No worries...infants under the age of 3 ride free of charge! Car seats are also available at no extra cost (first come, first serve - 2 available).
Note that the snorkel and lunch spot may be changed to the west side depending on weather and water conditions.

Excursion Notes

• Each Jeep holds up to 4 people.
• We suggest you bring along sun protection, a change of clothes, a swimsuit, a camera, cash, etc.
• For safety reasons, snorkeling locations may be substituted due to weather or ocean conditions.
  
• The private Cozumel Jeep excursion itinerary, as well as the stops, may be adjusted based on the conditions of the day to allow for the best experience.
• If you require a car seat, please indicate at the time of booking. The car seat will take up one adult space in the Jeep.
• Arrangements for an automatic transmission Jeep must be made at the time of the booking (please add to notes during the booking process).

Where we meet

For this Cozumel Custom Private Jeep Sightseeing, Snorkel, and Beach Club Excursion with Lunch, you will meet your guide just across the street from your cruise ship terminal in Cozumel. All necessary information will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• There is a minimum of 2 adults needed for this Cozumel private sightseeing excursion by Jeep.
• The minimum age to drive a Jeep is 21 years old - all those wishing to drive must have their valid driver's license with them.
• All guests under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult/guardian participating in this excursion.
• This Cozumel shore excursion is not allowed for guests with limited mobility, heart conditions, breathing issues, epilepsy, or any other illness that prevents their safe participation.
• Please discuss your plans for the day with the guide at the beginning of the excursion as backtracking to some sights may not be possible due to distance and time left.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
