This excursion is for certified divers - let our dive masters show you part of the second-largest barrier reef in the world and explore its beauty with a top-notch company. Your big decision is will your Costa Maya diving excursion be one tank or two!?

The dive shop is just a short shuttle ride from the pier (approximately $2.00 USD per person). If you have others in your group, bring them along and they can hang out on the beach while you dive. The professionally trained PADI dive staff will get you all checked in and get your adventure excursion in Costa Maya, Mexico, going.

The reef locations are fairly close, so travel time is brief. You will have the chance to see some exciting marine life including giant sea turtles, eels, lionfish, manta rays, coral formations, and more. Some of the more popular dive spots include Xcalack and Xahuaixol. The locations are decided daily by the dive master depending on the currents and water conditions.

The Meso-American Barrier Reef runs over 900 kilometers from Cozumel to Honduras. The section of reef off Mahahual (Costa Maya) has many finger formations that have created canyons and swim-throughs. The reef here is very healthy and in almost pristine condition - you will see cactus coral as well as many hard and soft species.

The equipment used is top-of-the-line and is continuously maintained by Sherwood-certified technicians. BCDs and regulators are replaced on a regular basis. The quality of the equipment helps ensure everyone has a safe and fun day.

The one-tank dive is approximately 2 hours and the two-tank dive is approximately 3 hours. Choose this dive excursion as a separate activity or as an add-on to your All Inclusive YaYa Beach Break! The first dive is approximately 60 feet (18.5 meters) deep and the second tank is a maximum of approximately 45 feet (13.5 meters).

Dive gear rental is available on-site. The full set of equipment is $25.00 USD to be paid directly to the operator. Please make a note in customer comments when placing your order if you will need equipment.

Excursion Notes

• Please download and print the following PADI SCUBA Dive Medical Statement (PDF document) and complete it prior to participation. It is required that you bring this completed form and any other required notes or paperwork.
  
• You must bring your current dive certification card with you (PADI or SSI).
• We suggest you wear your swimsuit, bring a towel, sun protection, cash for the shuttle, tips, other purchases, etc.
• Please pay attention to the restrictions and requirements for this excursion, no refund will be granted if the requirements are not met.

Where we meet

For the Costa Maya Certified 1 or 2-Tank SCUBA Dive Excursion, you will meet after a short shuttle ride from your cruise pier in Costa Maya/Mahahual. All details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• You must bring your current dive certification card.
• This operator follows PADI rules and safety regulations about medical issues.
• Minimum participation age is 10 years old.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
