In 1983, the Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center started by providing a home for wild animals that were being used in making documentaries about tropical forests. It wasn't long after the zoo opened that it was realized that visitors of Belize knew very little about the various species of wildlife in this country. This is what sparked the promise to develop the tiny zoo into a vibrant wildlife educational center.

Now it exhibits over 150 animals of over 45 species, all native to Belize. The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center sit on 29 acres of grassland, keeping animals that have been orphaned, rescued, and even born at the zoo. They have received animals as donations from other zoos and care for animals needing rehabilitation. Visiting the zoo is a wonderful way of being introduced to the animals of Belize and learning how important it is to protect the environment that sustains them. Come and enjoy one of the many gifts that Mother Nature has given to Belize! After your excursion, the transportation will take you back to the cruise tender pier.

Where we meet

Excursion Restrictions

• The walk to the river start for the cave tubing is approximately 25 minutes.
• Children must be accompanied by an adult.
• The maximum weight allowed per guest is 360 lbs (165 kg).
• The minimum height required is 40in (101cm) regardless of age.

Cancellation

• You want to cancel at any time, for any reason, before or after your arrival. Simply contact us via email reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com within 14 days of your missed excursion date for a deposit refund.
• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location.
• Your ship misses/skips the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator to run the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the tour operator or guest may send doctor's note).
  
• Cancellations that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund. Guests must notify us within 14 days after their excursion date via email for requesting a refund of booking payment made to Shore Excursioneer.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
