Drive your own Dune Buggy on various terrains including two beaches, through the countryside and streams. You'll also have the chance to shop for unique souvenirs and enjoy some refreshments throughout this Buggy Excursion.

Start this great Puerto Plata Shore Excursion by meeting with your friendly guide just outside your Amber Cove Puerto Plata cruise ship pier. Climb aboard comfortable transportation for a short, 5-minute, ride to the Dune Buggy Excursion base camp. The buggy shore excursion camp is located on a private ranch, complete with lush, tropical vegetation, fun trails, and small streams!

Once you arrive, you will be matched up with your Buggy. You will be given brief instructions, but these off-road vehicles are very simple to drive. In fact, beginners are welcome and there's no license required to drive a buggy on this shore excursion. Also, the price is the same for one, or two riders so great for couples, automatic transmission buggies are also available (limited). Excursion prices are per buggy, please note there are also available family buggies that can hold up to 4 people, please contact customer service to find out availability and to get a quote.

Once you're on your buggy it's time to follow the guide through the ranch, past little houses, and farms you'll see in the countryside. You'll ride for about 15 minutes to Teco's Beach and then stop for a dip in the ocean if you wish or enjoy the view and a refreshment. Your shore excursion guide will have both cold bottled water and sodas available.

Next, you'll head to another ranch where you can stop, taste, and shop, if you'd like, for cigars, cacao, and coffee. You'll spend 15 minutes at this location.

Then it will be time to make an optional stop at Martin's gift shop where guests can see local handicrafts, stones from the Dominican mines, local clothing styles, and all for purchase if you'd like.

Your Puerto Plata Dune Buggy Excursion ends with a 20-minute drive back to the Dune Buggy Excursion camp. Your guide will then take you back to the Amber Cove Puerto Plata cruise ship terminal, just a 5-minute ride away. The total dune buggy riding time is approximately 2 hours.

• We suggest you wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes that can get dirty on this off-road shore excursion in Puerto Plata.

Where we meet

For the Amber Cove Puerto Plata Dune Buggy Excursion Adventure, you will meet just outside your Amber Cove Cruise Ship Terminal after a 10-minute walk. All the necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• The minimum participation age is 5 years old.
• The minimum age to drive a buggy is 16 years old with a parent as a passenger at all times.
• The minimum age to drive alone is 18 years old.
• Guests do not need to present their driver's licenses.
• This Amber Cove Puerto Plata Dune Buggy Excursion Adventure is not suitable for guests with any type of mobility issues or pregnant guests.
  
• People under the influence of alcohol or other substances will not be permitted to participate (no refund will be granted).
• The maximum weight per vehicle is 500lb.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
