  • Additional attractions: Rockland Estate Museum, Natural Trails, and scenic viewpoints!

Enjoy fun and thrills then check out this one excursion, with all four exciting attractions at Rockland Estate included. Hop on the relaxing ride up two chairlifts on the Soualiga Sky Explorer. Awaiting you at the top is a fantastic panoramic view of St. Maarten. On the Sentry Hill Zip Line, you will soar over the mountain ridge. Next, you will go down the mountain on the Flying Dutchman, the world's steepest zip line! Lastly, you will again ride the Soualiga Sky Explorer to reach the Schooner Ride Station, where you will surf part way down the mountain in an inner tube! A fun excursion for up to 5 hours!

The adventure starts once your ship has arrived in St. Maarten, you will meet directly at the park just a 30-minute ride away, where you will begin your adventure.

Rockland Estates is now a premier adventure attraction destination but it also has a deep history. Follow your guide to the 1700s plantation house, wherein 1818 Trace Wilson was born into slavery. Learn how her descendant Emilio Wilson later purchased the property. Emilio's legacy is showcased in the museum; see how he generously contributed to the "The Friendly Island" of St. Maarten.

To get the fun started, you will have a short orientation and then board the Soualiga Sky Explorer chairlift. Sit back and enjoy the 25-minute ride to the top of Sentry Hill on this 4-person chairlift. At 1,115 feet (339 meters), Sentry Hill is one of St. Maarten's highest points of elevation, giving you a spectacular bird's eye view. Do not forget your camera! Two separate chairlifts and several platforms around the mountaintop allow you 360-degree views, including Anguilla, St. Bart's, Saba, and St. Eustatius, neighboring islands!

Sentry Hill Zip Line is next. After a brief but thorough safety orientation, you will put on the harness system and safety equipment. Then with the assistance of the guide, prepare to fly over the mountain ridge on the Sentry Hill Zip Line. This zip line is 1640 ft (500 meters) long.

Once to the other side, you will again board the Soualiga Sky Explorer chairlift to the top of Sentry Hill, to experience the next zip line. This one is truly unique and a guaranteed adrenaline starter!

The staff will go over another brief orientation and then get you going for the Flying Dutchman. Seated in a harnessed chair, you will be securely attached to a flight line, zipping down 2,800 feet of line (853 meters) with an elevation drop of 1,050 feet (320 meters). With up to four guests starting on their line, this is the most fun and fastest race to the bottom of the hill you can imagine. This is the ride of a lifetime, on the world's steepest zip line!

Finally, board the Soualiga Sky Explorer once again to reach the Schooner Ride stop. On a specially designed dry track, you will sit in your individual canvas-covered inner tube and "surf" down the straightaways and curves! Enjoy your fast-paced ride down the mountain in style; do not forget to say "cheese" as you pass by the photo station.

Afterward, you may choose to purchase any of the once-in-a-lifetime photos captured of you while on the Sentry Hill Zip Line, the Flying Dutchman, or the Schooner Ride. Then, you may continue to explore the estate or refresh yourself at Emilio's Restaurant.

When the time has come to depart simply ask the staff to call a cab for you to take you back to your cruise ship pier in St. Maarten.

First off, once you purchase from ShoreExcursioneer you never receive any kind of assistance from them. Then collect your money, send you your ticket, and from then on you're on your own. I did this excursion while sailing with Norwegian as the excursions wasn't being offered through the ship for my sailing. I brought the ticket to the taxi dispatch at the port as directed. The ticket makes it sound like transportation is included. It its not. I paid $7.00 to get to the excursion and $15 to get back from the excursion. When I arrived at the taxi stand I kept getting passed around from person to person, no one knew want to do with me. Finally after 20-25 minutes I was ushered into a car with two other people going to the same location. Upon arrival at the excursion they take your ticket and give you a wrist band, from them you're pretty much on your own as they don't really tell you where to go or what to do. Am I waiting for a guide? Am I going on my own? Wasn't sure. All past zip lining excursions have been with a guide who brought you from place to place, explaining things as you go. You have to ask many questions along the way here and some of the works are nice, others are not. For the most part they were pleasant enough. I walked up the small hill and boarded the Sky Explorer chair lift. I got off at the first stop which was the Schooner ride. This is a snow type tube with a bottom on it. You ride down a fairly short course back to the bottom of the chair lift. It was fun but not overly exciting. Next I boarded the chair lift again and rode all the way to the top of the mountain. I did the zip line course. It's only four lines, pretty short, great views, again, not overly exciting. After they strapped me in I was sent on my way, alone, to find the start of the zip line course. It was easy to find but when I found them they were already done with two lines. I joined them for the last two and then was allowed to do the first two with just a guide and myself. Felt pretty rushed the entire time. Next I rode a second chair lift up to the very top of the mountain. It's a short ride but very steep. Suggestion, if you are doing the Flying Dutchman check in as soon as you get off the second chairlift as the wait can be long. After you check in you can roam around the platforms and take pictures of the surrounding Island. The views are breathtakingly stunning, simply gorgeous. I can't recommend a trip to the very top enough. After I took pictures I did the Flying Dutchman. You sit down and ride a zip line to the bottom of the mountain. It's not very scary but is very fun and was in fact the highlight of the trip to me. Once at the bottom I rode the main chair lift back up to the tube platform and was allowed to ride the Schooner a second time. I didn't see anyone else do it the entire day, probably not very popular, I can understand why. Overall it was a decent excursion but be prepared to be left pretty much on your own, directionless for the entire day. Two of the employees on the zip line were very friendly as were the two running the Flying Dutchman. The gift shop attendants were decent as well. All other employees couldn't be bothered. The gift shop sold some cute t shirts, they ranged from $22-$29. I bought a digital photo package, the images are emailed. That cost $55 for 5 photos. One was a 360 degree photo from the top of the mountain. Was pretty cool, I'm glad I did it.

The adventure we choose on our last cruise was the perfect combo for all our family to enjoy. I don't know how to start but here is my experience. We arrived in St Maarten and found our guide in just a few minutes, then we started our journey. The transportation was comfortable and the shuttle was clean, there was a full house that day so there was a great environment. Space on the shuttle was a fine and good mix of people - all fun-loving. When we get to the Rockland our fun day began. All the activities were more than fun, for moments we felt nervous but the experience it worth it. Super thankful to all the staff for being so sweet to us. All the equipment is top-notch.

I have used SE before and so I am a returning Customer. Trust builds trust! To coin a Scottish phrase, "it's like being a bairn in a sweetie shop"; but for cruise excursions. Translation is a child in a candy shop!!!
