You'll meet your shore excursion guide outside your Taino Bay cruise terminal. From there your air-conditioned transport will drive approximately 20 to 25 minutes to the adventure park located in Maimon, a small mountain town nestled among 4 rivers. On arrival, you'll have an introduction to the park and then you'll be shown to your ATV. You have the option when booking for single or double riding. These vehicles are easy to drive and comfortable with a backrest for passengers. Your guide will get you all set on the ATVs before leading the group out on the trails.
Your off-road adventure shore excursion takes you through the Dominican countryside where you'll see the daily life of its people and the country in which they live. Prepare for an exciting ride that takes you across shallow streams and through riverbeds, along country roads that pass fertile farms, and through rich green forests. You'll have a chance to see this lovely country the way most tourists never will. On your 1.5 to 2-hour ride, you'll drive to Maimon Beach, where many tourists never go. There is great swimming here so bring your suit and enjoy the waters of this cove with its dark sand and a river that runs into it.
On your return to the adventure cruise excursion park, you'll be suited up and given instructions for your zip-line flight over the treetops. This is a fun experience for all regardless of a previous zipline experience. There are 8 ACCT-certified lines. The 7,900 feet (roughly 1.5 miles) of zip lines are made of 2 double steel galvanized cables for your added safety. These zip lines have a feature that most circuits do not need to use your gloves to brake yourself at the end of the zipline. The guides will get you started and stop you on each line so all you have to do is enjoy the view as you fly through the air. You can use the handlebar to hold onto for extra comfort. Children are welcome as they can ride with a guide or adult - please read over the restrictions for more information. You need to be moderately active as there is some walking between the lines and a lot of steps on the platforms. The zip line total circuit takes between 1 to 1.5 hours. There's also an opportunity to enjoy some local fruit right off the tree on the way.
Upon returning to the shore excursion base camp, you will finish off your day by being served a typical home-cooked Dominican lunch of rice, beans, chicken or beef, fried sweet potatoes and yucca, vegetables, tropical fruits, and more. When you finish your lunch, you can take a stroll around the park to be introduced to some of the indigenous animals and birds that live there.
When time at the adventure park comes to an end, you'll board your transportation again to return to your Taino Bay cruise ship terminal.
