Hop into your air-conditioned transportation right at your Naples cruise port on a scenic 40-minute drive to the ancient city of Pompeii with your guide! This remarkable city was buried in molten rock, lava, and ash in 79 AD during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. For over two millennia, artifacts, buildings, and bodies were incredibly well-preserved under approximately 20 feet of volcanic ash. Thanks to the absence of moisture and oxygen, the vast majority was well preserved and is there for you to explore today on this guided 2-hour experience. Time permitting, you can visit the cameo and coral factory to learn how the products are made! Note that the entrance to the ruins is not included.

The next stop on your adventure is wine country. In the shadow of Mount Vesuvius, you will take a stroll through the vineyard. At the vineyard, workers hand-pick grapes and place them in vented crates. Aging takes place by employing the ancient wisdom of the winemaking process. Modern-day technology is utilized to create exceptional wines when the timing is appropriate. You will be served a scrumptious lunch, with each course paired with a variety of wines such as Falanghina, Lacryma, Christi, and Aglianico. Your meal will be a traditional Italian countryside meal including homemade bread, Piennolo Vesuvio tomatoes in olive oil, pasta with Scarpariello ("Shoemaker's" style olive oil with garlic and herbs), local salami, grilled vegetables, semi-spicy provolone, fresh green olives, and a homemade dessert! Would you like to purchase additional glasses of wine during your meal, or even a couple of bottles to go? These can be purchased at your own expense. The vineyard you will visit may vary depending on the crowds that day.

After indulging in a delightful meal and satisfying your taste buds, sit back and relax as your guide takes you back to your Naples cruise port.

• Excursion prices are quoted in US dollars.
• The balance must be paid in EUROS only. The total amount in Euros will be shown on your E-Ticket.
  
• The entrance fee to the Pompeii ruins is not included, please consider an additional 16 Euros per person. This fee may vary.
  
• We suggest you have cash (Euros) for refreshments, excursion staff gratuities, shopping, etc.
• Sensible, rubber-soled walking shoes are highly recommended along with sun protection.
  
• The visit to Pompeii's ruins is led by a guide with a minimum of 6 people, under this number of guests, audio guides are provided.
• Spanish and French guides are available upon request. Please leave a note while making your reservation.
  
• Please pay attention to the restrictions and requirements for this excursion,  if the requirements are not met, no refund will be granted.
• There is a minimum of 2 people needed per booking.

Where we meet

For this Naples Full Day Pompeii and Wine Tasting Excursion, you will meet your local driver/guide at your Naples cruise port. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• This excursion is not wheelchair accessible.
  
• Guests must be able to step in and out of the transportation.
  
• Guests must be able to walk on paved, gravel, and cobblestone surfaces, some on inclines.
• There are steps required to enter several of the sites as well as steep curbs in some areas.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
