Your exciting day discovering Rome will start at your meeting point, "Largo Della Pace" cruise terminal, where your departure staff will be waiting for you. Just show them your voucher and they will escort you to the bus. On your way to Rome, there will be an assistant on board who will give you information and advice on the best highlights in port. They will also provide you with maps of Rome on which the main points of interest will be marked, so please feel free to ask them how to reach and visit them!

Depending on its route, you will be able to see amazing places like the Vatican and admire the majestic St Peter's Basilica, finally built in 1626, or pass near the Tiber and see the marvelous Castel Sant'Angelo. After these incredible views, your imagination and creativity will take place! You will have plenty of time to visit your favorite spots in town and also purchase some activities directly on the bus to start with! 

There is so much to choose from and something interesting for everyone! After you are dropped off at the Palace of Justice, Palazzo dei Trubunali, there are several options for you. For example, heading to the north, at 15 minutes walking you can visit the Vatican or just go to the city center, just 10 minutes walking. If you decide to cross Ponte Umberto I, located just in from of the Palace of Justice you can reach the fortress of Castel Sant'Angelo. There is also the famous Piazza Navonna to see the Fountain of the Four Rivers by Bernini, the Fountain of the Moon, by Giacomo della Porta, and the Fountain of Neptune, by Gregorio Zappalá and Antonio della Bitta. You can visit the Pantheon, the great temple of Piazza della Rotonda, the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Venezia to admire the Colosseum and so much more!

At the end of a fantastic day full of culture and history, you can return to the Palace of Justice to be picked up at 4:00 PM, the bus departs at 4:30 PM to be taken back to your Civitavecchia cruise ship terminal.

Excursion Notes

• Excursion prices shown are quoted in US dollars.
• As you may be visiting a religious or memorial site, shoulders, and knees must be covered for men and women.
• We suggest you have cash (Euros) on hand for balance payment, earphone fees, refreshments, excursion staff gratuities, shopping, etc.
• Sensible, rubber-soled walking shoes are highly recommended along with sun protection.
  
• There will be an assistant on board the bus to provide you with a map of Rome and suggest interesting places to visit.
• Please note entrance tickets for museums or attractions are not included in the price, it will be at extra cost. Prices may vary depending on the season.

Where we meet

For the Civitavecchia Explore Rome on Your Own Excursion, you will meet your local excursion staff at your Civitavecchia Cruise Port Transportation Hub, located at the main entrance to the port. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket. Please allow enough time to catch the port shuttle to the transportation hub for your departure.

Excursion Restrictions

• Guests must be able to step in and out of the transportation.
• This excursion is not wheelchair accessible.
• There are steps required to enter several of the sites as well as step curbs in some areas.
• Children must be under parental supervision at all times.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
