You will meet your guide outside your Amber Cove cruise port and get ready to take a leap - again, and again, and again! Up to 30 guests will go on this adventure, beginning in air-conditioned transportation for a short 25-minute narrated drive through the countryside to Damajagua River and its famous waterfalls. The Twenty-Seven Waterfalls of Rio Damajagua are hidden in the Northern Corridor mountain range and are unlike any other place on Earth. 

After arriving at your base camp, you will be given safety equipment - consisting of a helmet and life vest - and a briefing. Ready? You will cross rivers and streams before the Damajuaga staff guide leads you on an uphill hike of about 40 minutes to reach the top of the falls accompanied by a specially trained member of the "Jump Crew"! What goes up, must come down...and to get down you must jump and slide down the falls. Time to take that leap you've been thinking about, down into the naturally formed pools or sliding down the natural waterslides carved over the centuries. This is an excursion only for those who are adventurous and physically fit (please see the restrictions and notes). This unique opportunity is both safe and fun.

This is not allowed for smaller, younger children due to the amount of very physical activity level. All adults must be in very good physical condition. Once you go up the hillside, the only way down is to jump. Following this amazing adventure cruise shore excursion in Amber Cove, you will change into dry clothes and prepare for a fun return trip back to the port. You will receive a rum punch on your ride back to your Amber Cove cruise ship port. You will be back in time to enjoy the Amber Cove Cruise Center. Excursion Notes

• We suggest you wear sports sandals with back straps or sturdy walking shoes that can get wet. Guests who arrive without proper footwear will be required to rent shoes for $2.00 USD per person or will not be allowed to do the excursion (with no refund).
• Women must wear water shorts over a swimsuit and a lightweight tank top or t-shirt is strongly recommended.
• Bring sun protection, a towel, a change of clothing, a camera, bug spray, cash for balance payment, tips, drinks, lunch, shopping, etc.
  
• The drive to the waterfalls is approximately 25 minutes each way.
• The hike, jump, and slide up and down the falls is approximately 2.5 hours.
• Please pay attention to the restrictions and requirements for this excursion, no refund will be granted if the requirements are not met.

Where we meet

For this Amber Cove Puerto Plata Damajagua Waterfall Jump and Slide Excursion, you will meet right outside your Amber Cove Puerto Plata cruise ship pier in the Dominican Republic. All the necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• The minimum participation age is 10 years old.
• Guests must fit comfortably in one seat only on the bus/van.
• The high water level may limit the number of falls that will be visited.
• This excursion is not allowed for guests with any type of mobility issues and is not wheelchair, walker, or cane accessible. Guests with any type of knee, back, or neck injuries will not be allowed to participate.
• Guests MUST be physically fit to hike up the trails to the start of the waterfall jump site. There are no stairs; guests use trails and climb over rocks. The jump off the rocks into the pools below can be 10+ feet high.
• This excursion is not allowed for pregnant guests.
• Guests under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
