Once your cruise ship has docked in Roatan you will meet your guide at a convenient location right outside of your Roatan pier. Board your comfortable transportation and enjoy the quick 10-minute drive to the dive shop. You may choose to bring along your own Scuba Equipment or rent it on-site.
Once aboard your boat, you will only have a short ride to the first dive site, the famous Mary's Place. This site normally has fantastic visibility with an average temperature of 81-85°F (27-29°C). The maximum depth is 100 feet. Depending on your air consumption, you will spend up to an hour exploring the amazing walls and breathtaking crevices that make Mary's Place so famous. Hard corals, black coral, sponges of all kinds, and gorgonia-decorated the walls. Keep your eyes open for seahorses, juvenile spotted drums, anemones, fire worms, and lionfish!
Next, you will head a short distance away to complete your second immersion of the trip, either Prince Albert or Mr. Bud. Prince Albert was an Island Freighter that in 1987 was sunk intentionally by Coco View Resort to create an artificial reef and wreck dive site. The tank sits upright in 60 feet of water. With a length of 137 feet, there is plenty of wrecks to explore. Keep an eye out in the blue for passing Eagle Rays! The wreck of Mr. Bud is equally as fascinating. Once a cargo and Shrimp boat, Mr. Bud has been sunk since 1995. The wreck sits upright in 60 feet of water. This 75-foot-long boat sits in a sandy channel between two large coral heads and along the ledge of a wall, making it a visually interesting dive. Large sponges, as well as hard and soft coral, have attached and grown along the wreck, making it an inviting home for all sorts of marine life.
Upon your return to land after your two fantastic and memorable dives, you will board again the transportation and will be brought right back to your Roatan cruise ship pier.
Note: Please download and print the following PADI SCUBA Dive Medical Statement (PDF document) and complete it prior to participation in this Roatan 2 Tank Certified SCUBA Diving Excursion. It is required that you bring this completed form and any other necessary notes or paperwork. You do not need to see your doctor unless you answer YES to any of the questions.
Please note that this SCUBA diving shore excursion is weather dependent. If the weather on the south side of the island is not suitable or safe for diving, the excursion location will be changed to our north-side dive shop and will include two alternative dives. You will be informed of this change at the pick-up point and you will have the chance to opt-out of the excursion without a financial penalty
Get ready to explore one of the most amazing places in Roatan. Dive Mary's Place and get mesmerized by the walls and its corals and sea life. Then you will have the chance to dive in a shipwreck and discover why Roatan is so great for diving.
