This great day begins by meeting your licensed Costa Rica guide just outside your Puerto Limon cruise ship terminal. Then you will be taken to the comfortable, and air-conditioned shore excursion transportation that will take you on a 20-minute panoramic ride to your first stop to the Tortuguero Canal. Enjoy the information that the guide will share with you along the way.
Once at Tortuguero, you will climb aboard a covered boat that seats up to 26 passengers. Not to worry the viewing is good out each side so you'll be able to see everything, including monkeys, sloths, iguanas, tropical birds, and much more. Your guide will be narrating as the boat makes its way down the canal. Keep those cameras ready! Your time on the canal will be approximately 1.5 hours. You can just relax and take in all the sights.
The boat will land and you will hop back aboard your transportation to head further south and visit a native fruit stand with a vast selection of seasonal produce. Free samples of some of the local fruits will be offered, they are delicious. You will spend about half an hour and then it's back to your transportation for a short 15-minute ride and more sights along the way.
Your next Puerto Limon nature sightseeing excursion stop will be at a real banana plantation where you will learn about the growth, harvest, and transportation of this fruit from the tree to your table. See the banana trees and the fruit hanging to ripen.
Enjoy stories told by your guide during the 40-minute ride to Cahuita National Park.
Once at Cahuita Park, your guide will lead you through the hiking trails and tell you about the diversity of the wildlife of Costa Rica. Your guide will point out some of the Cahuita Park inhabitants in the rainforest trees. The sightseeing includes sloths, coatis, raccoons, toucans, herons, green ibis, and much more. The trail leads to a pristine beach. If the weather permits, you are welcome to take a dip in the clear waters. The park also has a Costa Rica cuisine restaurant, where you can purchase lunch and drinks. The complete hike is 1.6 miles, but guests may choose to shorten the hike.
After your 1.5 hours in this beautiful, protected area, you'll head back to your transportation, which will take you back to your Puerto Limon cruise ship pier. The ride back is approximately 45 minutes and there is an optional 15-minute stop at a local supermarket where you can buy coffee and handcrafts, before being dropped off at your Puerto Limon Cruise Terminal.
Experience a unique Costa Rica Shore Excursion combo with rainforest, a pristine beach, and a slow boat ride down a meandering canal. All are surrounded by the tropical beauty that is Costa Rica!
