Immerse yourself in the rural culture and culinary traditions of Jamaica on this half-day shore excursion from Ocho Rios. Get off the beaten path and drive through the lush countryside of Fern Gully, passing through some charming local villages.
You will begin your adventure by meeting with your friendly English-speaking excursion guide just next to the Ocho Rios cruise ship pier. Then you'll hop on board the comfortable transportation and head out for the scenic ride to Fern Gully, approximately 10 minutes away. As you travel, you will want to remain awake and aware of the beauty of your surroundings as you pass through miles of lush rainforest. At Fern Gully, you'll have approximately 15 to 20 minutes to walk around, enjoy the sights and sounds of the rainforest and take some pictures.
Up next, you're off to the Medicinal Herbal Garden, approximately 5 to 7 minutes away. Once there, you will be checked in and given a guided walk through their coffee farm. Your guide will explain the techniques of coffee farming. Jamaica provides over 50% of the world's medicinal herbs and at the Herbal Garden, there are over 50 species of medicinal herbs and plants.
All the herbs are labeled with their local and botanical names. Your guide will introduce you to the herbs and give you a short history of that particular plant and its many medicinal uses. Ornamental trees and flowers of various types from fruit trees, coffee trees, and flowers of various types are all found on the farm. There are also friendly farm animals for you to see. Please note that persons with walkers and folding wheelchairs can join in on this shore excursion.
After you have worked up an appetite while walking around the grounds, you will have the option to purchase an authentic Jamaican lunch and some reggae music and drums. The menu is changed daily to include ackee and codfish, steamed callaloo, yams, roasted sweet potatoes, rice and peas, festival, roasted breadfruit, curried goat, jerk chicken, jerk rabbit, and more.
After this unique adventure excursion, you'll be brought back to your Ocho Rios cruise ship pier.

Where we meet
For the Ocho Rios Taste of Jamaica, Farm, and Garden Excursion, you will meet just outside your cruise terminal. All specific information will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.
Cancellation
For the Ocho Rios Taste of Jamaica Farm and Garden Excursion,we issue full refund for your deposit or full payment to us if:
- You want to cancel at any time, for any reason, before or after your arrival. Simply contact us via email reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com within 14 days of your missed excursion date for a deposit refund.
- Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location.
- Your ship misses/skips the port.
- Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator to run the excursion.
- A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the tour operator or guest may send doctor's note).
- Cancellations that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund. Guests must notify us within 14 days after their excursion date via email for requesting a refund of booking payment made to Shore Excursioneer.
