When you are in the port of Naples, Italy, you really must take the opportunity to visit two of the most historic sites in the area. This particular adventure includes the round-trip shuttle service to Mt. Vesuvius and Herculaneum (with optional pre-order entrance pass).

You will meet your shuttle after a short walk from your Naples cruise port - it is important that you be on time at the meeting points. Enjoy a 60-minute scenic drive to your first stop, Mt. Vesuvius, one of the few volcanoes in Europe that are still active! In AD 79, the eruption of this volcano, which released 100,000 times the thermal energy of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, Mt. Vesuvius ejected stone and ash destroying Pompeii, Herculaneum, and two other cities! Today, this volcano remains one of the most dangerous in Europe, with the potential to destroy nearby cities with a population of 3,000,000! Your shuttle would stop for about 2-hours, enough time to explore this amazing site. The entrance fee is not available for pre-order and must be paid on-site - please bring 10 Euros per person to pay at the gate. Your shuttle staff will tell you exactly when and where to meet the shuttle so you do not get left behind.

When you leave Mt. Vesuvius, your next stop will be Herculaneum, which was destroyed and buried in the AD 79 eruption of Vesuvius. Save time when you arrive by adding the entrance ticket when you book - see the order form. Skip right to the Express Ticket line! Unlike Pompeii, Herculaneum was preserved under the ash – wooden items and organic-based materials were rediscovered in 1709 when a well was being dug. The artifacts that have been uncovered in this luxurious retreat of the Roman elite are quite remarkable. There are also grand houses built from marble! You'll have 2.5 hours to walk around the archeological site and learn about the history of this ancient city on your self-guided visit. You will meet your transportation again at the appointed spot.

At the conclusion of your visits to these two historic sites, your shuttle will return you to the original pick-up site where you can take a taxi or walk back to your Naples cruise terminal. Don't pass up this incredible opportunity!

Excursion Notes

• Entrance fee to Mt. Vesuvius National Park is not included, please consider an additional 10 Euros per person. This fee may vary slightly and is ONLY payable in Euros.
• There is an option to pre-order the entrance ticket to Herculaneum. If you do not add it to your order form, you will need to wait in line upon arrival and purchase on-site. Entrance Ticket to Herculaneum can be exchanged at the PRIORITY TICKET OFFICE of Herculaneum at the entrance of the archeological site. If you have any questions, please ask your friendly staff where to go.
• Please be advised this service is provided by reservation and your ticket IS NOT usable for a different time from the shown on your booking. You will choose your return time on the day of the excursion.
  
• If you miss your shuttle back to Naples, there may or may NOT be space on another bus. This is a shuttle transportation service only and is not a guided excursion.
• We suggest you have cash (Euros) on hand for the entrance fee, refreshments, excursion staff gratuities, shopping, etc.
  
• Sensible, rubber-soled walking shoes are highly recommended along with sun protection.
  
• Please pay attention to restrictions and requirements for this excursion, no refund will be granted if requirements are not met.
  
• YOU WILL RECEIVE A VOUCHER IN A SEPARATE EMAIL. YOU MUST BRING A PRINTED COPY OF THE VOUCHER TO BOARD THE BUS. DO NOT GIVE THEM OUR ETICKET!

Where we meet

For this Naples Shuttle to Mt. Vesuvius and Herculaneum Excursion, you will meet your friendly crew a short walk from your Naples Cruise Port to the terminal. All necessary details will be printed on your eticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• Minors 18 years and younger must present proof of identity; in the absence of a document, they will be charged at the adult rate.
  
• This is not a wheelchair accessible excursion (wheelchairs, walkers, mobility scooters, strollers, etc.)
  
• Guests must be able to step in and out of the transportation.
  
• Guests must be able to walk on paved, gravel and cobblestone surfaces, some on inclines.
• There are steps required to enter several of the sites as well as steep curbs in some areas.
  
• Seating on the bus is on a first come basis.
  
• Excursion tickets are only valid on City Sightseeing buses. Unused tickets or tickets presented to another operator are non-refundable.
  
• It is the guest's responsibility to know their ships scheduled departure time and plan their day to be back on board at the appointed time.
  
• Schedule times might change due to traffic or any other force majeure.

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
