Start this day by meeting with your English-speaking guide right at your Mazatlan Cruise Terminal. You will then be escorted to a comfortable 14-seater, air-conditioned van. Once everyone is settled in, you will head north on a panoramic ride; your driver will also serve as your guide. They will give you a fully narrated 45-minute ride to the first stop in the village of La Noria. Located about 40 miles north of Mazatlan, La Noria is a small village that is packed full of rural Mexican charm complete with adobe homes, cowboys, craftsmen, and the old San Antonio church. Soft drinks and bottled water will be served in the van.
In La Noria, you can view the locals creating belts, shoes, purses, and more in the same way that folks have been making them for generations. Watch as a local artist creates beautiful pottery and take your time browsing through the many arts and crafts available to purchase. This is a unique opportunity to purchase souvenirs, unlike others at touristy spots.
You will also have the opportunity to visit the local church, San Antonio, and enjoy a great view of both the village and the lush valley below.
La Noria is also home to the La Vinata Los Osuna tequila distillery. Leaving the central part of the village, you will drive through acres and acres of the blue agave plantation and arrive at the distillery. La Vinata is the largest blue agave plantation and the oldest tequila distillery in Sinaloa state. You will be briefed on the ancient and current process of producing tequila. This tequila factory is unique because it maintains its old equipment that was used in the 1800s for you to witness both processes. Learn what a pina (pineapple) is in tequila terms and view some of the tools used. You will then be given the chance to sample the product that Mexico is now famous for...tequila!
Once you have completed your visit to the distillery, it's time to head back to Mazatlan where you have the option of stopping to purchase a delicious local lunch, before heading back to your cruise ship pier. This tour is highly recommended to enjoy the beautiful sights and to learn about a lot of the culture and history in this area of Mexico.
