Directly at the pier, you will meet your English-speaking driver who will serve as your narrator/guide and set out in your air-conditioned transport for the 90-minute journey to Florence. The driver will give commentary while you are in the vehicle only, not on site.

On arrival to the city's historic area, your driver will get you as close to the must-see sites as possible in this predominantly pedestrian-only area. After seeing the sites, return to the same spot and your driver will take you on to the next stop. See the Gothic architecture of Piazza del Duomo with its Cupola, a powerful symbol for both the city and its tradition. See the exterior of the Baptistery and its impressive handmade doors.

Stroll the Piazza della Signoria, known as Florence's political heart, and see the Palazzo della Signoria. This monument was designed in 1298 for the seat of the Republican government.

Nearby is the oldest bridge in Florence, Ponte Vecchio. Although reconstructed after the flooding of 1333, the bridge still offers great architectural views and interesting photo opportunities.

Take time to sample some authentic Italian cuisine for lunch. Your driver will be able to offer suggestions. Lunch is at the guest's expense.

Do not forget to visit the Square of Santa Croce, one of the city's largest squares used for popular typical celebrations. There you will see the outside of the Basilica of Santa Croce, one of Florence's largest churches as well as the resting place of some of Italy's influential famous such as Gioacchino Rossini, Galileo Galilei, and the artist, Michelangelo. The approximate time in the historic district is 5 hours.

Head back to your transportation and journey to Pisa. On arrival to the city, you will disembark and walk approximately 20 minutes each way to the Field of Miracles best known for the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa. Enjoy photo opportunities and some free time. The approximate for the Pisa stop is 70 minutes. From here, you will return to your cruise pier, approximately 30 minutes from Pisa.

Please note that you should anticipate large crowds at all sites.

Excursion Notes

• Excursion prices shown are quoted in US dollars.
  
• As you may be visiting a religious or memorial site, shoulders and knees must be covered on men and women.
  
• Drivers are not licensed guides and therefore cannot enter sites or guide at sites. They will give descriptions of what you will see before arriving, and answer any questions afterward.
• We suggest you have cash (Euros) on hand for refreshments, excursion staff gratuities, shopping, etc.
• Sensible, rubber-soled walking shoes are highly recommended along with sun protection.
  
• Please be aware that due to security measures, the Port of Livorno may delay excursion vehicles from entering the pier area all at once, or may space ships out at 5 different piers which are a distance from each other. Quite often, these changes are done on the morning of the excursion and are not announced until they happen. We will do everything we can to work around this but please understand we have no control over the port authority and we appreciate your understanding and patience. All sites mentioned on the excursion will be seen and if the port authority causes any delays, (and time allows), any lost time at the beginning of the excursion will be included at the end of the excursion.
  
• Please pay attention to the restrictions and requirements for this excursion, no refund will be granted if the requirements are not met.
• Guides are available in English, Spanish, French, and German at no extra cost. Please indicate when ordering if you require a foreign language.

Where we meet

For this Livorno excursion, you will meet your local excursion staff at the Livorno Cruise Port's Transportation Hub, located near the main entrance to the port. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket. Please allow enough time to catch the port shuttle to the transportation hub for your departure.

Excursion Restrictions

• This excursion is not wheelchair accessible.
• Guests must be able to step in and out of the transportation.
• Guests must be able to walk on paved, gravel, and cobblestone surfaces, some on inclines.
• There are steps required to enter several of the sites as well as steep curbs in some areas.

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
