Immerse yourself in the real Cartagena Colombia-no big cruise ship crowds with this unique opportunity. Get the true taste and flavor of Cartagena. Your friendly guide will pick you up right outside your cruise pier and get you in your air-conditioned transportation to begin your adventure.
Your destination is only 25 minutes from the Cartagena cruise pier and your English-speaking Cartagena excursion guide will give you lots of information not only about your destination of La Boquilla but also Cartagena and the Colombian lifestyle. La Boquilla is a town where the traditional ways of life are still preserved. This is a back-to-basics and back-to-nature day for sure!
When you arrive at La Boquilla you will accompany a local fisherman and wade out the in shallow waters. You will be shown and taught how to use the fishing and crabbing equipment. You will get to try your hand at pushing the trawling net and the proper way to cast out the spinning hand net. It is all good fun!
After the fishing experience, you will be invited into the home of the fisherman where you will receive a lesson on how the locals have been preparing fresh seafood for generations. Along with the fish and/or crab, you will also be shown how to prepare tasty "patacones" or fried bananas and coconut rice.
Along with the delicious meal, you will also enjoy time hearing stories and the history of La Boquilla from the fisherman and his family. Learn about the traditions and heritage. To top off your day in the real Colombia, you can take a walk around the village or maybe just relax in a hammock and enjoy the good memories of your time. Your guide will take you back to your Cartagena cruise ship pier afterward.
Where we meet
For the Cartagena Colombia Authentic Native Fishing and Cooking Excursion, you will meet directly at your Cartagena cruise terminal. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.
Cancellation
For the Cartagena Private Native Fishing and Cooking Excursion, we issue full refund for your deposit or full payment to us if: Canceled by client prior to excursion date with a minimum of 24 hours prior notice by email to reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com.
For cancellation reasons below, you must contact us via email within 14 days after your excursion:
- Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
- Your ship skips/misses the port.
- Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
- A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
- Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
- Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
