Join us on an exciting day in Barbados filled with sightseeing at all the important sites. Followed by a guided snorkel or swim with the famed sea turtles at Carlisle Bay!
Your meeting point for this fun 5 to 6-hour day is just outside your Barbados cruise ship terminal where your friendly, English-speaking guide will be waiting for you. After you get settled in the transportation, your guide will go over the plan and route for the day. Along the way, they will also be filling you in on the history of the island and other interesting facts.
You will start off your exploration and discovery of Barbados by traveling over to the East Coast of the island. Your first stop will be Cherry Tree Hill with its breathtaking views of the East Coast. The eastern coast is the windward side of the island that has some spectacular rock formations.
From there you will make your way to Morgan Lewis Windmill. The windmill is of the top 100 endangered historical sites in the world. It is one of only two working sugar mills in the world. It is a very historical structure and is now preserved.
As you continue down the coastline, you will travel through Cattlewash and make a stop in Bathsheba. Both are known for their wild and rocky shorelines. Bathsheba is a small fishing village that is popular with surfers due to the waves at the "Soup Bowl". The rocks out in the water offer some great photo opportunities, so don't forget your cameras.
Your next stop will be St, John's Church, one of the oldest churches on the island which is set on a cliff and offers some amazing views. This Gothic church is one of the oldest on the island. From here, you will journey around to the Garrison Historic Area. This is an area full of old military defense stations, barracks, and cannons.
For the second part of your day, your guide will take you to Carlisle Bay. You will have time to purchase a snack or lunch and cold drinks if you would like. You will head out on a glass-bottomed boat to swim and snorkel with the sea turtles! The local green and hawksbill sea turtles are in the open sea, not in cages or pens. The bay is a favorite swimming area for them - the amount you see is up to Mother Nature. You will get to swim alongside and view these slow-moving, docile creatures up close. Please respect their space and do not touch them. The time you will spend snorkeling and swimming is approximately 30-45 minutes.
When you return to the shore you will have a mini beach break. Please be sure to wear your swimsuits and bring a beach towel for this excursion.
This excursion is also offered without the swimming with the turtles as Barbados Bajan Paradise Sightseeing and Carlisle Beach Excursion.
At the end of your excursion time, your air-conditioned transportation will take you back to your Barbados cruise pier terminal.
Please consider to join the snorkel portion of the tour, you are required to sign the waiver. You will not be allowed to board the boat unless this is done https://www.tranquilitycruises.com/waiver
