This semi-submarine glass bottom boat cruise excursion is a great way to see the beautiful marine life and coral reefs (part of the second largest barrier reef system in the World) without getting wet! Your sub is a 28-maximum passenger "semi-submersible" glass bottom boat vessel. It never dives below the water line; it floats on the surface while you view out the large windows just 6 feet below the water level which makes is a great excursion for non-snorkelers and of course snorkelers!
Your fun exploration begins just outside your Roatan cruise terminal (Coxen Hole and Port of Roatan Mahogany Bay) where the friendly semi-submarine shore excursion staff will be waiting for you. They will get you all checked in and into your transportation. The drive to the West End pier where the semi-sub is located is just a short distance from the cruise terminal. You will get to pass some scenic sights along the way.
The boat crew helps you aboard under the shaded topside and down the 8 stairs into the interior where you will find large glass viewing windows along each side and seats down the middle. Then off you go as the vessel moves out from shore to the barrier coral reefs of West End. The crew will take you along the reefs where you can view all of the colorful, tropical marine life darting among the coral reef. The underwater scenery is never the same and the view is continuously changing out each window. There is a variety of marine life to see from colorful fish to coral to sponges.
You will be out on the water for approximately 35 minutes. At the end of the excursion, the semi-sub will motor back to the pier where the transportation will take you back to your ship's cruise terminal.
Note that guests must be able to walk unassisted down the stairs and step over the seating below.
