There will be several stops along the way and many "drive-by" locations as well. Throughout the entire excursion, your guide will be pointing out sights and giving you lots of interesting information. Do not forget your camera!
Wailua Falls (stop)
Next, you'll be brought to Wailua Falls, which is a spectacular waterfall that cascades 80 feet down the side of a lush jungle wall into a lovely plunge pool. Many famous films and television shows have used this location such as: "Fantasy Island", "Dragonfly", "Castaway Cowboy and The Amazing Race" as well as the ever-popular "Tropic Thunder".
Hanamaula Bay (stop)
You will now enjoy Hanamaula Bay, a quiet, peaceful location with gentle breezes and lush surroundings. Although the waters close to shore are a bit murky, you can still see the brilliant blues a bit further away from shore. A stream flows into this location and the silt makes for the darker waters close to shore. This is a lovely spot and is often favored for camping, but it was also the location for scenes from: "Donovan's Reef", "Pagan Love Song", "Six Days, Seven Nights" and "Voodoo Island".
Originally opened in January 1953 as the Coco Palms Resort soon expanded when it was acquired by the famous Grace Buscher, a woman who became well known for her ability to create myths and/or expand on existing Hawaiian beliefs. Practicing the Hawaiian art of Akua (which means to restore) she had many visiting celebrities such as Bing Crosby, Gene Autry, the legendary Hawaiian Olympic champion swimmer Duke Kahanamoku, James A. Michener, and even Liberace. The palm leaves roofed cottages became a favorite spot for celebrities. Along with this history, the Coco Palm Resort has been used as a location for: "Fantasy Island", "Pagan Love Song", "She Gods of Shark Reef", "Dinocroc vs Supergator", and "Pirates of the Caribbean". It may be best known as the setting in "Blue Hawaii" where Elvis is serenading to his bride on the way to the wedding chapel.
Opaekaa Falls Lookout (stop)
Your first stop will be at the amazing Opaekaa Falls location where numerous films such as "Donovan's Reef" and "Lt. Robin Carusoe, USN" along with the classic "Seven Women from Hell" were shot. You'll immediately know why this location was picked. The Opaekaa Falls is a 151-foot waterfall that flows over basalt. Most of the time it is a double cascade, but the two sides do become one after a heavy rainfall. When that occurs, this waterfall is incredibly dramatic.
Kapa`a TownNext, you'll head off to Kapa'a Town. According to their own description, this is a historic beachside community on Kauai's southeast shore that sits in a wistful, sweet spot between the old and new. It's a lovely place to visit and is also quite famous as being one of the locations for "Jurassic Park".
Aliomanu
A beautiful, secluded sandy beach where scenes from both "Six Days, Seven Nights" and "Voodoo Island" were filmed.
Moloaa Beach (stop)
Your next location is Moloaa Beach, which is a picturesque beach with calm waters and mild winds. Also great for snorkeling and hiking. But, what really makes Moloaa Beach famous is that it was the location for both the TV series "Gilligan's Island" and "Castaway Cowboy".
Hanalei Pier (stop)See where some of the scenes from Miss Sadie Thompson, Wackiest Ship in the Army, South Pacific, Beachhead, and Acapulco Gold were filmed.
Hanalei ValleyA scenic overlook of the area where scenes of Uncommon Valor were shot.
You will also have lunch included at the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort. Guests have a choice of one of the following:
