Save money, no taxi needed! Spend your cruise stop in Nassau at the only beachfront hotel downtown, the British Colonial Hilton. Your day pass to this top-notch hotel includes the use of its beach and amenities as well as a food and beverage credit for each adult and child!
Just a short 10-minute walk (less than a 5-minute taxi ride if you prefer) from your Nassau cruise terminal is your relaxing destination for the day, the Hilton British Colonial. Located in the heart of the city, most guests save the expense of a taxi and take a leisurely walk over. This luxury five-star and AAA four-diamond hotel was built on the site of the Old Fort Nassau. Originally opened in 1924, the resort occupies the grand colonial building as well as historical grounds. There is a lush garden and pool overlooking the harbor where the cruise ships dock so you can capture a great selfie with your ship in the background. Learn more about the history of the Bahamas from a mural added to the lobby in 1999.
Your day pass gives you a food and beverage credit ($40.00 for adults and $15.00 for children, no credit for non-paying infants). When you get hungry or thirsty you can order from Bullion Bar and Lounge the Conch'd Out Bar and Seafood Grill from 10 AM to 5 PM. If your tab goes over your "credited" amount, you just need to pay the balance. There are other restaurants onsite but your day pass credit does not apply; you are welcome to make purchases at those though.
Enjoy world-famous Hilton quality with the use of the private beach where you can catch some sun or swim in the clear blue water. Stroll the powdery white sand beach with stunning views of the cruise ship harbor. On the beach are lounge chairs to stretch out on and palapas to sit under if you want some shade. You can leave your bulky, heavy and very-expensive-to-replace ship towels back on board as your Hilton day pass includes towel service! Take a dip in the freshwater swimming pool. There are lounge chairs, tables, and lots of shaded areas so pick your spot and relax. Note that if you are traveling in a group, just like on the cruise ship, there may not be a group of chairs empty located all together. They are all first-come, first sit. It may take a bit of rearranging to gather available chairs together but there will be space for all. If you prefer some exercise you have use of paddleboards and kayaks. You can also snorkel off the beach if you bring your gear.
Don't want to miss out on some shopping as well as beach time, then don't worry. There is the Straw Market a short distance away. Set up among high-end stores this open-air market will hone your negotiating skills as you bargain for handmade Bahamian crafts, souvenirs, hand-woven straw hats, bags, mats, dolls, conch shell jewelry, and wood carvings. There are also plenty of duty-free shops nearby. Take a stroll around Rawson's Square, paved with cobblestones and lined with colonial-style government buildings and interesting monuments. It's your day to do as you want.
When you are ready to leave, you can simply walk or take a taxi back to your Nassau cruise terminal.
