Looking for something fun to do either before or after your cruise? Enjoy an exciting day trip to Key West and see what's made this island one of the most popular destinations in the world. With comfortable, and air-conditioned transportation to take you there, you'll then have lots of free time to explore, or we can give you a few suggestions below. Either way, why not make the most of your vacation!
Your transportation will pick you up at your hotel at a departure time assigned after you book. Key West is at the southernmost tip of Florida on the very last little island of the Straits of Florida. On the way, you'll hop over the islands crossing 42 bridges including the Seven Mile Bridge which has been the spot for several movie scene filming - 2 Fast 2 Furious, License to Kill, and others. You will travel over the Everglades and see fantastic sights as you pass from the comfort of your seat. The drive is approximately 4 hours but you will be riding in an air-conditioned style.
Cuba is only 90 miles from Key West so there is a lot of Cuban influence evident. Pan American Airlines started here with flights to Cuba. The island is small, only 4 miles long and 1 mile wide but there is much to see and do.
When you arrive in Key West, you'll immediately be drawn into the tropical energy that cultivates the island. Duval Street is the main road. Enjoy a fabulous meal with a fantastic view, or visit one of the many legendary bars and cafes. The shopping is quite eclectic and the locals are very friendly. Key West has changed hands many times as evidenced by Fort Zachary Taylor which holds a large collection of Civil War items including cannons.
You will have about 6 hours to explore - the day is yours! Your driver will tell you when and exactly where you will have to meet for the return trip back up to Miami. You can search on your own or maybe you will want to take a sightseeing excursion once you arrive. We offer this day pass 4 ways - day pass only so you can explore totally on your own, Conch Train, Hop On/Off Trolley, and Glass Bottom Boat Ride.
Sit back and relax on the Conch Train as it takes you through the city. You will see all the famous sites such as Old Town and learn about the history of the area. Then, of course, there's Hemingway Home, the house of one of Key West's original celebrities, Ernest Hemingway, and the 6 toed cats. He wrote some of his best works while in Key West. Want to explore and have a safe easy way to get around? There's the famous Hop On/Off Trolley that you can use as transportation while in Key West. Of course, you can always just relax on the beach and do nothing at all. But, be sure to visit Mallory Square if you are there in time for the sunset. Even if you aren't, Mallory Square is where folks gather for all sorts of activities. Hear street musicians, sip coffee, and do a little people-watching. Enjoy a slice of their famous key lime pie. Located by the historic waterfront, Mallory Square is, and always has been, a must when visiting Key West. Note that entrance fees to the attractions are not included.
When your time is up, you'll head back to your transportation for the scenic ride back to Miami. Your transportation will drop you off at your hotel.
Where we meet
For the Miami Key West Day Trip Excursion, you will meet at your Hotel Lobby. Your departure time will be assigned according to your hotel. All the details needed will be listed on your Shore Excursion Electronic Ticket.
Cancellation
For the Miami to Key West Day Trip Excursion, we issue full refund for your deposit or full payment to us if: Canceled by client prior to excursion date with a minimum of 24 hours prior notice by email to reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com.
For cancellation reasons below, you must contact us via email within 14 days after your excursion:
- Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
- Your ship skips/misses the port.
- Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
- A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
- Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
- Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
