This excursion has a lot to offer including a guided visit to the church of Balata, the ruins of Saint-Pierre and more! Bring your appetite and quest for a unique adventure at a rum distillery and beach break.

Your meeting point for this Martinique Excursion is just a short distance from either of the cruise ship piers. Your English speaking shore excursion guide will be waiting for you. Then after you get checked in and receive a briefing about your day and climb aboard your comfortable and air-conditioned transportation.

You will be driven through the hills outside Fort the France and have this amazing sight of the tropical foliage mixed with this fantastic building, the Sacred Heart Church, also known as Balata Church. This church was built in 1924 and it's a replica of the church you can see in Paris (Sacre Coeur de Balata). It's said that this church was built to congregate the Catholics at the growing Fort de France after Mont Pelee eruption in 1902 and destroyed Martinique's capital, St. Pierre. Also, the church is dedicated in memory to those who died in World War I.

Then you would continue following the Route de la Trace to delight yourself with Martinique's nature. Your next stop is the Alma River, you will see the abundant tropical rainforest.

Next, it is on to the Gendarme Waterfalls, some said the waterfall took its name because of the policemen and their horses stopped here for refreshment. Gendarme is French for mounted police. You will have to do a very easy and short hike to arrive at the waterfall, once there you will be charmed not only by the tropical forest but also by the clear waters of the waterfall. There is a pond where you can take a dip if you would like.

It's time to board your transportation again and admire the scenery and the majestic Mount Pelee as you pass by. You will be then at the foot of the volcano where Saint Pierre, the "Little Paris of the Antilles" is. Your next stop would be the Neisson Rum distillery located in La Carbet. This is a family owned distillery since 1931 and has preserved the tradition of Martinique components for rum. They are famous for their white rum and you will have the chance to see the rum process. Enjoy a taste and also have the opportunity to purchase a bottle of your favorite one!

Then it would be time to go to the ruins of Saint Pierre. Once destroyed by the volcano, it was partially rebuilt on the ruins left. You will have the opportunity to take some pictures here.

Your last stop would be the Carbet Beach, a wide beach with calm sea, transparent waters and black sand. You can relax while looking at the sea or maybe refresh yourself by swimming a bit. Finally, it will be time to return you to your Martinique cruise ship terminal.

Note: Your balance amount must be paid in Euros. The fixed amount will be printed on your eticket with instructions.

The sites we visited were a perfect blend of natural beauty and historic significance. The complimentary drinks that our guide gave to us were delicious, we bought some snacks so the drinks were very convenient. My husband and I and our two adult children thoroughly enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it to all.

No regrets in doing this excursion. Our guide, Johan (?) was very knowledgable. He explained to us every detail possible. He's the best!! Thanks to this tour we visited some places that we wouldn't have to if we were just on our own. Glad we did it! We really could not believe how green the island is!

We had the opportunity to visit so much of the island away from the city. The tour was very well organized. We enjoyed a thorough overview of the island including a visit to a waterfall, distillery, and Saint Pierre ruins. I would recommend this excursion for those wanting an overview of the island.

Port de France was one of our port of calls so decided to book this tour. Loved visiting the wateralls the distillery and volcano. Was able to purchase a bottle of rum which is home made with a unique taste. I do recommend to take some snack as it is a long tour. The island was so pretty that I do want to come back.

Island is very clean with beautiful nature all around. This tour allowed us to visit the best and most amazing places. Has so much history and I really liked how it has mixture of forest and volcanos and waterfals and beach in one island.
