Are you ready to be an Alaskan Boatman in your own rigid-hulled inflatable (RIB) boat? Bring along your first mate and be the captain for a part of this three-hour guided Ketchikan Boating Alaska Cruise Excursion.
Your Zodiac Shore Excursion guide will meet you at the cruise pier in Ketchikan and drive you approximately 25 minutes to the boat excursion basin located outside of town along the scenic coast. Here, you will meet your boating shore excursion guides who will get you geared up. You will then receive a safety orientation before boarding your 14-foot zodiac. Your boat is fully customized and equipped with console steering, it seats four and has a maximum speed of 25 knots.
Departing the dock, you will follow the excursion guide in your fast boat through the Alaskan rainforest islands keeping an eye out for wildlife: whales, seals, eagles, sea lions, and bears. As you bounce across the waves with the occasional spray in your face, you will have incredible opportunities to see the beautiful Alaskan scenery up close.
During your cruise, you will motor onto a beach, where you will take a break complete with a hot drink and a snack. If you want, for the return hand the helm over to another boatman.
You will pass rocky islands where humpback whales and orca are known to surface when in season. Tides permitting, you will go deep into bays and inlets where salmon spawning streams attract black bears along their shores looking for a seafood meal. This is a boating adventure excursion for the spirited traveler with an opportunity to drive your own boat among the islands north of Ketchikan. The total time with the boats is approximately 90 minutes including the stop.
Returning to the dock, you will have approximately 20 minutes to sit down, use the facilities or check out the small shop. You will then transfer 25 minutes back to Ketchikan and the cruise pier.
Please note: You may get cold out on the water, dress accordingly. You may get wet. Wildlife sightings are not a guarantee, but you will see beautiful sights and be exhilarated by the speed of this zippy and fun "4x4 of the sea"!
Where we meet
For this Ketchikan Alaska Boatman Adventure Excursion, you will meet your local excursion guide right in the central Ketchikan cruise pier area. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.
Cancellation
For the Ketchikan Alaska Boatman Adventure Excursion, we issue full refund for your deposit or full payment to us if: Canceled by client prior to excursion date with a minimum of 24 hours prior notice by email to reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com.
For cancellation reasons below, you must contact us via email within 14 days after your excursion:
- Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
- Your ship skips/misses the port.
- Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
- A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
- Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
- Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
