Dubrovnik is a city abundant in many historical buildings. From the Franciscan monastery and its church, observe the Renaissance-style Sponza Palace, once the city`s customs house, and St. Blaise, an 18th-century Baroque church built in honor of the city's patron saint. Although the city was damaged in an earthquake in the 1660s, you will be impressed at how many of the buildings have been very well preserved. Marvel at Gothic-Renaissance Rector's Palace with its museum and the Baroque Dubrovnik Cathedral with its impressive treasury. The duration of the Old Town walking portion is 90 minutes in total.
Dubrovnik is one of the world's best-preserved walled cities and was recently used as a filming location for the popular TV series, Game of Thrones. For the second part of your excursion, you will climb up the walls via the original stairs. Parts of these walls date back to the 13th century. The entire walk is approximately 1 mile and includes over 150 steps and inclines. The views of the city and water are great; you will see the gorgeous Minceta Fortress, St. John`s Fortress, Bokar Fortress, and the Maritime Museum. The duration of the city wall portion is 90 minutes.
At the conclusion of your excursion, you may spend free time in Old Town, purchase a drink at one of the cliffside bars at the base of the walls or make your way back to your ship at your leisure.
Please note there is a large amount of walking and steps involved during this shore excursion. Guests must be physically active to be able to ascend over 150 steps and walk with ease over cobble-stoned areas.
