Come and see the best of Dublin on the Dublin Highlights, Guinness Storehouse, Jameson Distillery, and Howth Village Excursion. Get a taste (literally and figuratively) of the best of the Republic of Ireland.
You'll meet your friendly shore excursion guide at your Dublin cruise ship dock. First up is sightseeing in Dublin, the capital city of Ireland. The city is a historical and modern center for education, the arts, administration, and industry. Your guide will give you some history and point out the places of interest that you may want to come back to and explore on your own later. This medium-sized city has much to see and do and this excursion should whet your appetite.
Your first excursion stop in Dublin is at the Guinness Beer Storehouse. Ireland is famous for this stout, now one of the world's most popular beers, and here you'll learn about the process of making it and be able to sample a glass. On your excursion of the 7 floors, built around a glass atrium, you'll learn about its founder Arthur Guinness, and see some of its most well-known ad campaigns. The Gravity Bar is located on the top floor and here you can enjoy a pint of Guinness while enjoying 360-degree views of Dublin.
Next stop you'll visit the Jameson Whisky Distillery in Dublin. Although no longer operational, you'll have a guided visit of the plant, a whiskey tasting, and time to visit the gift shop to purchase some to take home. The Scots are famous for their "whiskey" but so is the Irish for their "whisky". The two different spellings are due to the differences between Scottish and Irish Gaelic. Jameson Irish Whisky is renowned worldwide and you'll have a chance to find out why. The distillery was built in 1870 as the Bow Street Distillery but was renamed when John Jameson became general manager and expanded the operations. At one time it was large enough that it was known as a city within a city. Today it is a visitor attraction, as the operations have relocated.
The last stop is the idyllic town of Howth, located northeast of Dublin and, what was once a fishing village, is now a suburb of the capital city. This traditional Irish village is a sharp contrast to the bustling city of Dublin. There's a stop for lunch (price not included) and time to explore the town. The most famous attraction is Howth Castle, a privately owned home but open to the public, that's over 800 years old. The property covers most of the peninsula. You can also see the lighthouse, and market, or sip a brew at a local cafe.
This amazing Dublin excursion will give you an idea of why Ireland is a popular destination with the beautiful city of Dublin, the quaint town of Howth, and its famous beverages. At the end of your day, you'll be returned to your Dublin cruise terminal.
Get to know Dublin and Howth Village with this fantastic excursion. You'll visit the Guinness Beer Storehouse, Jameson Whiskey Distillery, and much more! You'll also visit Howth Village where you'll be able to enjoy lunch and walk around to discover it's secrets.
