Meet your kayak and snorkel cruise excursion guide by the cruise pier and take a 30-minute transfer on air-conditioned transport to the kayaking and snorkeling base office in Caracas Bay. On arrival, there are restrooms available; lockers can be rented at an additional cost of $2.00USD.
The guides will show you how to paddle the sit-on-top kayaks and give you safety instructions. They will assist your small group on their kayaks for a quick practice before heading out in the bay. They will lead the group from the base and along the shoreline. You will see an old manorial estate and Fort Beekenburg, a well-preserved fort that was originally built in 1703 to protect the inner bay. Paddling is at a relatively moderate pace.
For the snorkeling segment of your Curacao Guided Kayak and Tugboat Wreck Snorkel Excursion, the guides will pass out your snorkeling gear and show you how to use it (mask, fins, snorkel, and optional inflatable snorkel vest). Then they will lead you to explore over tugboat shipwreck, located on the protected southeast side of Caracas Bay. The tugboat, which sank 25 years ago, is home to a wide array of marine life. It is common to see colorful corals and schools of tropical fish when snorkeling here. The wreck if fairly shallow. Do not forget to bring your waterproof camera!
After the snorkeling, your excursion guide will lead you in the kayaks back to the base in Caracas Bay where your ground transport will be waiting to drive you back to your Curacao cruise pier.
All snorkel and kayak equipment is included. Guests must be in good physical condition to participate in this shore excursion. The kayaks are shared kayaks that hold 2 people each. There are beverages included - bottled water, juice, and soft drinks.
