This adventure mainland shore excursion from Cozumel cruise port begins when you meet with your friendly, -bilingual cenote snorkel excursion guide at the ferry pier in downtown Cozumel, just a 5-minute walk or 5-minute taxi ride away from your cruise terminal. The ferry cost is included and you can just relax and enjoy the ocean breezes as you are taken on a short 35-minute trek across beautiful ocean waters to Playa del Carmen.

Once you arrive in Playa del Carmen on Mexico's mainland, your Sac Actun Cenote Excursion guide will show you to your comfortable transportation for a scenic, 1.5-hour ride from Playa del Carmen to the famous underwater world of Sac-Actun. You'll be shown to the first of the cenotes, which are spring-fed, underground bodies of fresh water. This cave system is one of the largest submarine cave and underground freshwater river systems in the world. Also known as 'La Cueva Blanca', this system once hosted a variety of rituals and ceremonies for the ancient Mayans.

Then, after your time in the cenote and cave system comes to an end, you will dry off and hop back on board for the return to Playa del Carmen. On the transportation, you will receive a lite snack of a croissant with ham and cheese, one fruit, one chocolate, a cookie package, and a bottle of water or soda.

Upon arrival in Playa del Carmen, your Cenote Excursion guide will walk you to the ferry pier where you will catch the ferry back to Cozumel island. Arriving back in downtown Cozumel, guests may choose to shop, sightsee or head directly back to their cruise ship terminal according to the ship's schedule.

Excursion Notes

• Guests will be given a light snack and a water bottle or soda after the cenote visit. Beer will be also available only after the cenote activity is completed. Guests with special dietary needs may wish to bring their own.
  
• We recommend comfortable clothing, water shoes (or similar), and hats are also suggested. Bring biodegradable sunblock, a towel, a change of clothes, and a camera.
  
• The cenote water is very cool.
  
• The ferry ride is approximately 45 minutes each way and may be rough at times. Guests who suffer from motion sickness should take this into consideration.
  
• We suggest you have cash (USD small bills or Mexican pesos) on hand for transportation, additional refreshments, excursion staff gratuities, shopping, camera fees, etc.
  
• Please be advised that ALL participants MUST sign a WAIVER prior to getting into the cenote.
  
• Please pay attention to the restrictions and requirements for this excursion, no refund will be granted if the requirements are not met.
• This excursion includes our "Back to Ship" guarantee, based on the arrival time back to Cozumel island. It is then the guest's responsibility to catch one of the many taxis aligned at the pier for the short trip back to their cruise ship.

Where we meet

The ferry pier is within walking distance from the Punta Langosta downtown pier, and a 5-minute taxi ride from the Puerta Maya Terminal and International Cruise Terminal. Excursion Restrictions

• This excursion is not wheelchair or scooter accessible.
• The minimum participation age is 8 years and the maximum is 70 years old.
• Maximum guest weight is 250lbs (113Kg), minimum weight is 75lbs (34Kg).
• Guests must be able to step on/off the ferry as well as climb onto the transportation to the cenote.
• Guests must be able to walk on paved, gravel, and packed dirt with rock surfaces, some on inclines.
• Guests under any of the following medical conditions are not allowed to participate: pregnancy, asthma, heart disease, diabetes, epilepsy, respiratory conditions, blood pressure conditions, back/neck injuries, medicated/taking antidepressants, lithium, beta-blockers or base (vein) constrictors.
• Guests must be proficient swimmers, in good health, and self-sufficient.
• Children under 18 years old need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
• Guest must use the life vest provided during the water activity, it is mandatory.
• Guests must comply with all the instructions given by the PADI-certified snorkel guide.
• As there is no specific end time to the excursion, it is the guest's responsibility to know their ship's scheduled departure time and plan their day to be back on board at the appointed time. The excursion length is 6 hours with the guests arriving back at the downtown ferry pier in Cozumel.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• You want to cancel at any time, for any reason, before or after your arrival. Simply contact us via email reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com within 14 days of your missed excursion date for a deposit refund.
• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location.
• Your ship misses/skips the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator to run the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the tour operator or guest may send doctor's note).
  
• Cancellations that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund. Guests must notify us within 14 days after their excursion date via email for requesting a refund of booking payment made to Shore Excursioneer.
