You won't have to deal with large ship crowds. This is a private Shark Ray Alley and at Hol Chan Marine Reserve excursion in Belize for your group of up to 8 participants. You will have your own private guide and boat.
Your fun day begins right outside your Belize cruise terminal where your private English-speaking guide will greet you, check in, and be on your way. You will be taken by boat for a 35-minute journey to the Hol Chan Marine Reserve and the famous Shark Ray Alley.
Your guide will be giving you all kinds of information along the way so you will know what to expect. They will pass out the snorkel gear and demonstrate how to use it. Mayan for "little channel", Hol Chan Marine Reserve is one of the most popular dive sites in the Caribbean. The entire reserve focuses on a cut through the reef. The "cut" is just a little more than 25 yards wide and 30 feet deep.
Hol Chan is now a unique refuge filled with incredible coral formations and a vast variety of marine life. The Government of Belize established the Hol Chan Marine Reserve on May 2, 1987. Your guide will pass out all of the snorkel gear and show you how to use it before leading you on a guided snorkel of the Hol Chan "cut". You will want to bring a waterproof camera to capture the images!
You will have an approximate 45-minute guided snorkel where you will see some of the incredible marine life that lives on the reef - the second-largest barrier reef in the world. You will then motor over to Shark Ray Alley!
Your guide will lead you into the crystal clear waters and spectacular colors of Belize's Barrier Reef for another guided snorkel. Colorful reef fish dart in and about graceful stingrays and the inquisitive brown nurse sharks-an experience not to be missed. Never fear, these creatures are docile, non-aggressive, and used to human interaction. Your guide will be with you in the water and assist so you may possibly even touch one.
After your awesome snorkel, you will get back on the boat and head to the nearby small island of Caye Caulker for a beach break. Caye Caulker has a population of just over 1,000. There are small stands and cafes to purchase refreshments and lunch if you would like. Time provides for a little sunbathing or strolling on the sand streets of one of Belize's secret jewels.
With a history dating back to the mid-1800s, Caye Caulker remains a small, quaint village with a distinct cultural flavor and no large-scale tourist development. Almost all the businesses are locally owned, and vehicles larger than golf carts almost never roam the streets.
The boat will then take you back to your Belize tender pier where you can spend the rest of your day at your leisure, time allowing!
This private excursion is for up to 8 participants. This excursion is also available as a public option - see order form. There are several boats used depending on group size for that day - ranging from 23 feet to 38 feet (15 to 35 passengers) but larger boats are available.
