For those guests arriving at Harvest Caye, Belize please see our Harvest Caye Excursions.
Your friendly English-speaking Belize shore excursion guide will meet you outside your Belize cruise terminal and get the adventure underway. You will board your transportation and head for your destination of St. Herman's National Park. Along the way, your guide will give you lots of information about the area and some of the history of the Blue Hole.
St. Herman's Blue Hole National Park takes its name from the "Blue Hole." The Blue Hole is actually a sinkhole formed by the collapse of an underground river channel. The exposed section of the underground Cave Branch Creek tributary can be viewed for about 150 feet before it disappears again beneath the surface. The majority of blue holes are found at sea on a coral reef so this one is unusual.
Some 575 acres of primary and secondary forest situated just off the Hummingbird Highway and 12 miles southeast of the capital city of Belmopan, Blue Hole National Park was established in 1986. In addition to the inland Blue Hole, the park has nature trails and two caves - St. Herman's Cave and the Crystalline Cave within its boundaries.
Your guide will lead you on a picturesque walk through the National Park and point out some of the interesting flora and fauna.
When your exploration of St. Herman's is completed you will be treated to a tasty Belize-style lunch and bottled water too. Your transportation will take you back to your Belize cruise tender pier.
Great for the nature lover. Explore St. Herman's National Park on gentle hiking trails. View the famous blue hole!
