If you are visiting Barcelona before, during, or after your cruise, or simply in town on Holiday, you must take advantage of this great opportunity to take the short trek to Montserrat. This half-day excursion is led by a bilingual, expert guide who will take you through history and nature. Upon meeting at a central location, and utilizing safe, private transportation on the way to the Monastery, you will admire the Massif of Montserrat, a spectacular multi-peaked rocky range packed with unique needle-shape formations.

Upon arrival, you will explore the Monastery, which was founded in the 10th century and still functions to this day with over 150 monks. It is also well-known for hosting the figure of La Moreneta (the dark one), who is the patron saint of Catalonia. Your guide will bring history alive through their dynamic presentation of the historical and cultural elements of this Monastery, dating back nearly a thousand years.

Next, get ready for a thrilling horseback ride along the Natural Park, offering breathtaking views of Montserrat, while enjoying the freedom and tranquility of the countryside. Led by experienced guides, the route is suitable for everyone. Enjoy the ride and the spectacular sight of the mountain! Your riding time is approximately 1 hour. Note that only one person per horse is allowed - no tandem riding. Excursion Notes

• Excursion prices shown are quoted in US dollars.
  
• Taxi fare from the cruise pier in Barcelona to the meeting location is approximately 15 euros based on traffic. Not all taxis have a credit card reader. Those that do take Visa, and sometimes Mastercard. Taxis do not take American Express or any other cards. Very few taxis will take any currency besides the Euro.
  
• We suggest that you wear comfortable clothes and hiking shoes.
• Visiting the Morenata is not guaranteed (subject to availability and season), as there may be up to 2 hours of queue.
  
• Bring along sun protection, your camera, and cash (Euros) for refreshments, excursion staff gratuities, shopping, etc.
  
• The excursion is not available on Mondays.
• Not available on Sundays

Where we meet

For the Barcelona Montserrat Monastery and Horseback Riding Excursion, you will meet at a centrally located spot from your cruise terminal. All necessary details will be printed on your Shore Excursion Electronic Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• The minimum participation age is 12 years old.
• The maximum weight allowed to join this activity is 210 lbs (95 Kg).
• This excursion is not suitable for guests with mobility issues.
• Pregnant women and guests with epilepsy, heart problems, or any chronic diseases please ask for medical advice regarding your safety participation in this activity.
• Note that tandem riding is not allowed; only one guest per horse.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
