Experience a scenic ride to Costa Brava on the Girona coastline. Panoramic views of the rugged shore, and quaint towns all with crystal blue water.
Your meeting point is a 20-minute taxi ride from your Barcelona cruise pier where you will be greeted by your guide staff then you'll board the air-conditioned transport. Along the way, the informative, English-speaking guide will give you insights, stories, and the history of the sites.
Departing from the center of Barcelona, your coach will follow the motorway to the village of Lloret de Mar, which is approximately 75 minutes away and is the most visited village of the Costa Brava.
Your guide will give you a short walking orientation through the narrow streets from the beach up to the Byzantine, Moorish, Renaissance, and Modernistic Church of St. Roma. The pedestrian streets contain cafes and shops carrying everything from beachwear to the latest styles. At the church, which was finished in 1522 AD, you will have the opportunity to see a 16th-century altarpiece, which is well preserved. You will also have a short amount of free time. The total time here is approximately one hour.
You will board your excursion boat at the beach, for the approximately one-hour cruise to the village of Tossa de Mar. The boat has both indoor as well as outdoor seating along with restrooms. During the cruise, you will sail past caves, in between islets, overhanging ledges, and rock formations shaped over the centuries by the sea and wind. Keep your camera handy!
Arriving at the beach in Tossa de Mar, you will see why it is named the pearl of Costa Brava, with its scenic landscape, historic elements, and medieval village. Outside its walls, you will see the traditional fishing neighborhood of Sa Roqueta, which still maintains its maritime atmosphere. Your guide will lead you on a one-hour walking excursion from the beach, following the fortified perimeter and for those who are interested, up to the lighthouse on the top. From here, you have a commanding view of the coastline.
Descending from the lighthouse, you will go through the narrow streets and stone houses of Vila Vella until you get to the fishing district. Here, you will have free time to purchase lunch on your own at any one of the many cafes or restaurants. This village is known for having the greatest gastronomic offerings on the Costa Brava. The total time in Tossa is approximately three hours.
At the given meeting back time, your guide will be waiting to walk you back to your transportation for the 90-minute drive back to the center of Barcelona Upon arriving back at the starting point, guests may catch a taxi back to their ship directly or return at their leisure - taxi costs are not included.
Run away to the Girona coast, named the Costa Brava due to its unique rocky, rugged coastline, home to small coves surrounded by pine forests, dotted with picturesque little towns, and lapped by crystal blue water.
