You'll start your adventure by meeting knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides just a 20-minute taxi ride from your Barbados cruise ship dock. Once you get checked in your guide will lead your group to the fish market and jetty to start this great combo of sightseeing and delicious food excursion started.

Please note that this excursion is only available on Fridays (except on public holidays). Book early to secure your space!
 
Your guide will take you through the fish market and jetty where you will be able to see the boats bringing ashore freshly caught fish such as Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Kingfish, Marlin, and the local delicacy (and one-half of their national dish) flying fish. See how the fishermen skillfully skin, clean, and portion the fish to provide to the vendors. Your guide will also provide you with the rich history of this popular fish market.

Many of the local men are descendants of generations of fishermen who passed on their knowledge of the sea and particular fish-catching skills to them. They use methods such as hand lines, nets, and fish pots to fish in the waters around Barbados. The "official" fishing season is from December to April.

You will also visit some craft vendors within Oistin's Fish Market. Up next is Oistins Fish Fry,  where you will sample Bajan fish at three different stops. After the food sampling, you're off to Miami Beach where you can relax and view the town's coastline.

This day will give you an understanding of the rich history of Barbados and an appreciation for the many wonderful flavors of its food. You can make your way back to your Barbados cruise ship at your leisure.

Excursion Notes

• We suggest you wear comfortable clothes and rubber-soled walking shoes.
  
• Bring along sun protection, cash for refreshments, excursion staff gratuities, shopping, etc.
  
• A minimum of 6 guests is needed to run the excursion.

Where we meet

For the Barbados Oistins Fish Lovers’ Food Walking Excursion, you will meet after a short 8-minute taxi ride from your Bridgetown Barbados cruise terminal. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• This excursion requires approximately 1.8 miles (3 km) of walking. Please consider if this distance is appropriate if you have children attending.
  
• This excursion is not suitable for guests with mobility issues, wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, or strollers.
• Participants under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
  
• The minimum age for alcohol consumption is 18 years old.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
