Your experience begins as you disembark your cruise ship and board one of the complimentary shuttles to Progreso, where our team will be waiting to warmly welcome you to Yucatán.
Shortly thereafter, you will board our comfortable, air-conditioned transportation. Though the journey is brief, there is much to discover along the way. Your experienced tour conductor will introduce you to the rich history and culture of the Yucatán, answer any questions you may have, and provide helpful tips to ensure you make the most of your visit to Dzibilchaltún (pronounced “dzee-beel-chal-toon”).
Located just 25 km from Progreso, Dzibilchaltún is one of the most significant ancient Maya cities. At its peak, it is believed to have been home to approximately 40,000 inhabitants. The site features more than 8,400 structures and shows evidence of continuous occupation from around 540 BC through 1540 AD.
Upon arrival, your certified on-site guide will lead you on an engaging exploration of this remarkable archaeological site. You will discover fascinating structures, including those where archaeologists uncovered ancient stelae dedicated to past rulers, as well as the iconic Temple of the Seven Dolls, named after seven small figurines found within during excavations in the 1950s. This extraordinary temple is precisely aligned so that, during the spring equinox, the rising sun shines directly through its upper openings.
You will also have the opportunity to admire the breathtaking Xlacah cenote, renowned for its crystal-clear blue waters. Reaching depths of approximately 44 meters, it is part of an extensive and largely unexplored underwater cave system.
At the conclusion of your visit, our team will welcome you back with chilled water and refreshing towels, offering a moment to relax and cool off before returning to Progreso. There, you will have free time to explore the local crafts market and perhaps select a unique souvenir to remember your experience.
Your tour conductor will then escort you back to the departure point, ensuring a smooth and seamless return. From there, you will board the shuttle back to your cruise ship, bringing your memorable day in Yucatán to a close.

Come adventure to one of the most important Maya Ruin settlements on the North Coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, and after, visit the local craft market! You won't want to miss out!
