St. Kitts has much to offer - enjoy this guided sightseeing excursion around the island for great highlights followed by an optional relaxing beach break. Rich culture, heritage, and beautiful landscapes all in one sightseeing cruise excursion in St. Kitts.
This shore excursion begins when you meet your English-speaking guide just outside the St. Kitts Cruise Port. After the greeting, you will board a comfortable vehicle and travel 10 minutes to Basseterre, the capital city of St. Kitts and the Eastern Caribbean's oldest town. Depending on the size of the group, your transportation will either be an air-conditioned van or an open-air safari-style truck.
Enjoy a leisurely walk around Independence Square downtown with your experienced guide sharing some of the histories of the Berkeley Memorial and the local Slave Market. You will then board your vehicle and travel west to the Fordland area and see the Cenotaph, a tall obelisk built in memory of those from St Kitts, Nevis, and Anguilla who lost their lives in World War I and II. The Fordland area is home to many ancient buildings, now reconstructed and converted into luxury homes, elegant restaurants, and foreign embassies.
Just a 30-minute ride from Fordlands, you will stop and take a walk along the trail through the pristine rainforest. Your knowledgeable guide will provide an interesting insight to the flora and fauna. For those with an adventurous streak, you will have the opportunity to swing from one of the big tree vines and enjoy a "Tarzan" moment. Then enjoy a 20-minute break to relax, surrounded by nature, and refresh with complimentary cold beverages, which are provided.
Next on this St. Kitts Sightseeing Cruise Excursion, you will visit Romney Manor, a 12-acre property where the Caribelle Batik clothing line is made. The skilled artisans hand-paint each piece and you will see the process of creating this distinctive clothing and of course check out their store. The well-maintained property is also home to numerous vervet monkeys living among the trees and the beautiful botanical garden.
Up next, you will travel through Middle Island for a panoramic excursion of the first Anglican church on St. Kitts and pass by the burial site of Sir Thomas Warner, the first foreign settler of the island of St. Kitts. Then continue to Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park for a photo stop. The fort is a well-preserved Colonial structure and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999. You will even have a chance to see the famous Black Rocks, enormous volcanic rocks leading down to the ocean from the roadway.
The journey around the island continues with a 30-minute ride through the newest area on the island, Frigate Bay, where the most luxurious resorts and mansions are located. There will be a short stop on Timothy Hill, where you will have the perfect selfie photo op with the Caribbean Sea to one side and the Atlantic Ocean to the other side.
Finally, you will have an optional beach break stop where you will have approximately one hour to play, relax and enjoy one of the most beautiful white sandy beaches of St. Kitts. There is a beach restaurant available to purchase food and drinks or rent water sports such as jet skiing, snorkeling, water trampolines, and more. Pricing and availability are determined on-site and at your expense. For those wishing to skip the beach, the guide will take you directly back to your ship's cruise terminal (and then go back for the beachgoers). The length of this St. Kitts Sightseeing Excursion without the beach break is approximately 5.5 hours.
At the end of your St. Kitts sightseeing adventure, your shore excursion guide will take you back to the cruise ship terminal.
This St. Kitts Sightseeing Excursion will take you to the main landmarks and attractions of St. Kitts. History, nature, culture, and one of the island's most beautiful beaches!
