Visit the small town of Esparza and its Catholic Church located just off the main town plaza. With its domed clock tower and neoclassical facade, it was constructed during the Spanish Colonial period. Your guide will give you more information on the history of this church, known as one of the most impressive in the country.

The famous Joaquin Chaverri Oxcart Factory, built in 1902, manufactures these unique items still today. Some say the specially decorated oxcarts have become almost a national symbol for Costa Rica. Once the main transportation mode for coffee beans, they are now featured in parades and religious celebrations. The entrance fee to the factory is included in the excursion price. Enjoy a delicious lunch known as "casado" consisting of rice, beans, green salad, fried plantain, and a choice of beef, chicken, pork, or fish.
Your cruise shore excursion guide and transportation will then return you to your Puntarenas Costa Rica cruise ship pier at the conclusion of the excursion.
Where we meet
For this Puntarenas Countryside, Coffee, and Sarchi Art Excursion, you will meet right at your cruise ship pier. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion ticket.
Cancellation
For the Puntarenas Countryside, Coffee and Sarchi Art Excursion,we issue full refund for your deposit or full payment to us if:
- You want to cancel at any time, for any reason, before or after your arrival. Simply contact us via email reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com within 14 days of your missed excursion date for a deposit refund.
- Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location.
- Your ship misses/skips the port.
- Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator to run the excursion.
- A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the tour operator or guest may send doctor's note).
- Cancellations that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund. Guests must notify us within 14 days after their excursion date via email for requesting a refund of booking payment made to Shore Excursioneer.
- Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
