Start this day with a pick up at one of several convenient meeting spots in and around Orlando for the ride to the Kennedy Space Center. The drive is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Pick-up times range from 07:30 AM to 08:30 AM only - official departure time from Orlando after all of the pick-up stops is approximately 08:45 AM.
For those guests booking the excursion for a Wednesday or Saturday, you will also have an added treat...you will have a meet and greet with an astronaut!
You will have access to the restricted areas, get to walk under the massive Saturn V rocket before it is off to the Shuttle Launch Experience. This is a space simulator that gives you a feel of what the astronauts go through with lift-off.
One of the most interactive and guest favorite is the Space Shuttle Atlantis! You will see up-close the real spacecraft that flew in space. Now you can see it as the astronauts have with the payload doors up as it is when they are up working in space.
You can enjoy more than 60 interactive, touch-screen experiences. Check out the 3D IMAX movie to see what it is like to walk in space. Conduct a virtual EVA (extravehicular activity), practice virtually docking Atlantis to the ISS (International Space Station) and extracting cargo from the payload bay, create sonic booms, glide to a landing on the re-entry slide, experience the feeling of floating in space. You will even get to experience what the sunrise is like from orbit. You can strap in and get a real feel of what is like during a shuttle launch with the sounds, sights, and sensations. And to top it all off, get behind the helm in the shuttle cockpit! There is so much more waiting for you.
But the fun does not stop. Then it's lunchtime and your chance to sit down to a buffet lunch and enjoy a presentation from a real NASA astronaut. You can also get autographs and photos. Hear about the training, the experiences, the sights from space. This is the ultimate experience for anyone who is even remotely a space enthusiast. Lunch has many options that include something for all tastes and includes desert along with soft drinks, ice tea, water, and coffee.
Afterward, you'll climb aboard the DISCOVER KSC Bus that will take you by the former shuttle launch pads. On occasion, the bus stops in the Vehicle Assembly Building where you can have the opportunity to take some great photos. Then touch a piece of space yourself as you are shown a moon rock. An experience that is, quite literally, out of this world.
There's lots to see and do, and a chance to make memories that will last a lifetime. Great for whole families, or those who remember this exciting time in our history, and want to learn about our future. When this fully packed day comes to an end, you'll be returned to your morning pick-up location
This is the ultimate Port Canaveral Excursion that will thrill everyone in the whole family. Orlando Space Center with round-trip transportation, a meet and greet as well as lunch, with an astronaut and so much more, this should not be missed.
