Upon meeting your guide directly at your Marseille cruise pier you will be instructed on the operations of the state-of-the-art Electric Bikes. If you can ride a normal bike this will be a breeze. The battery propels you along so that you barely have to pedal the bike at all, making going uphill no problem! You will be given a helmet and a yellow vest to make you more visible and safe. There is a maximum of nine guests on each excursion, so you know that you will have plenty of personal attention. The is saddlebag storage on each bike to put your small items inside. Cover 40 km easily with the help of smooth riding and simple-to-operate Electric bikes, fit for the whole family! Trailers and seats are available for the small ones in your family who are unable to pedal themselves.
After you have become comfortable on your bike, you will head south; riding along the Kennedy Corniche. This stretch of road was named after President Kennedy. Here you will have fantastic views of the Vallon des Auffes, a small angler's haven, comprised of fisherman's cabins and small fishing boats. As you cruise along the Corniche you will also view Prado Beach, the port of Madrague Montredon, the Mediterranean Sea, and many 19th-century villas. Upon arriving in the village of Les Goudes you will have the opportunity to get off your bike and do some independent adventuring. While in Les Goudes you will have the chance to refresh yourself at a local restaurant (not included) to purchase sandwiches and snacks to bring along to eat picnic-style at the next stop, Maronnaise Beach.
During your ride from Les Goudes to the beach, you will have fantastic views of the fjords of the French Riviera and beautiful limestone formations that surround pools of blue water forming fjords. Upon your arrival at La Plage de la Maronaise, you will disembark off your electric bikes to take a swim, eat your picnic lunch, or simply rest on the beautiful beach. Afterward, hop back on your bike to continue your adventure, biking towards Calanque de Callelonque. The cove of Callelongue is one of the few inhabited fjords, home to a still operational fishing port and small quaint cottages. Taking off from Callelongue you will travel towards the city to see the highlights of Marseille. Ride through Parc Borley or Campagne Pastre, both of which are natural public parks.
Finally, you will head towards the most anticipated stop of all, the Notre Dame de la Garde. We will spend 20 minutes here for you two to admire and take pictures of the location of the Assumption Day pilgrimage. Built by architect Henri-Jacques Esperandieu, this Neo-Byzantine style church was started on June 5th, 1864. It is the single most visited site in all of Marseille. Due to its location on the outcrop of limestone close to the coast, it is an important landmark to passing ships and served as a lookout and stronghold over time.
Bike back down the limestone hillside and bid Au Revoir to your guide as you return to your Marseille cruise ship pier.
