Wheelchair-accessible sightseeing during your stop in Grand Cayman. Enjoy a half-day shore excursion with a visit to the Turtle Center, a stop at Hell, and a tasting of some delicious local rum and rum cake. Please note that there is a minimum of 4 people needed to run this excursion, if this minimum is not met the excursion may be canceled, and we will try to notify you in advance.
You'll meet your guide at your Grand Cayman cruise tender terminal and board your transportation there. The van is wheelchair accessible and has an automatic lift, so getting in and out is easy. The van can accommodate 8 guests and 1 wheelchair or mobility scooter. This is the same as our Grand Cayman Turtle Center, Hell, and Tortuga Rum Cake Excursion S3743 but in a special van.
Your excursion begins with a drive on the west side of the island where you'll see the Governor's Residence on Seven Mile Beach. The residence is used for national and ceremonial functions, receptions, and meetings with foreign dignitaries. After a brief stop for photo-taking, you'll be shown the West Bay area of Seven Mile Beach with its many residences built in a traditional style, a large public beach, and a variety of restaurants.
Your next stop is the Cayman Turtle Center where you'll have about half an hour stop. At this conservation farm, you'll learn how they care for and preserve the turtles. You can see them in the various stages of life from hatchlings to full-grown. You'll be able to hold and be photographed with the smaller turtles. Some of the turtles grow up to 600 lbs but you're welcome to take photos of those ones.
Next, you'll visit an area of jagged limestone formations, created when a particular alga attacks the limestone, covering the size of a football field and aptly named Hell. You can't walk on this field but there's a viewing platform where you can take photos and imagine fire and brimstone. After that, you can say you have been to Hell and back!
You'll then be taken to the Camana Bay observation tower where you can see the island and the Caribbean Sea in a 360-degree panorama. The observation tower is 75 ft tall and accessible by elevator. Don't forget your camera to capture the beauty of this part of the world.
The perfect way to end this excursion is at the Tortuga Rum Cake Outlet. At this internationally recognized organization you can sample and purchase some locally produced rum and rum cakes. Delicious! At the end of your day, you'll get you back to your Grand Cayman cruise port to catch the tender back to your ship.
A specially designed half-day excursion in a wheelchair-accessible vehicle that includes stops to see the turtle center, Hell's unique rock formations, and some samplings of delicious locally made rum products. There is no need for anyone to miss out on sightseeing in Grand Cayman.
