This is a unique, hands-on cooking class! Soak in the sun at one of Cozumel's finest beach parks, play at the water park, and of course, enjoy a freshly prepared meal made by you!

You'll meet your friendly staff outside your Cozumel cruise terminal where they'll check you in and escort you to the transportation. The transfer takes approximately 15 minutes. Once at Playa Mia, you'll be taken to a private dining area with an amazing oceanfront view. Then you'll meet your prestigious chef who will show you to your fully stocked cooking station. Get ready for a fun, interactive experience! 

Your chef will guide you through the process of preparing a full three-course Mexican meal with appetizer, main dish and dessert. Follow along at your workstation as the chef takes you step by step through the preparation. Whether you are a seasoned chef or this is your first time, you are sure to have fun and maybe just learn a trick or two. The actual class time is about 1.5 hours.

When you have finished preparing your meal, you will sit down and enjoy what you've created! Beverage service will be provided throughout. Eating and tasting take approximately 1 hour.

Note that due to the workstation location and the amount of standing that is required, this excursion has restrictions - please read them carefully before booking.

• 1.5-hour Mexican cooking class with the chef to prepare a 3-course meal - Appetizer: Thick corn tortillas with spicy shrimp (tomato and chipotle sauce) topped with lettuce, heavy cream, crumbled cheese, and non-spicy chili powder. (Shrimp can be replaced with chicken breast or cubed potatoes). Main Dish: Fish filet topped with sauteed vegetables (onion, bell pepper, zucchini, carrot, and tomato) in a tamarind and chili powder sauce, Dessert: Cinnamon and sugar caramelized bananas with a bitter chocolate and tequila sauce and cream. * The menu is subject to be change by the Chef.
• Domestic open bar -  Purified bottled water, draft beer, assorted soft drinks, juice, mixed drinks with tequila, mezcal, brandy, rum, vodka, such as margaritas, pina colada, rum punch, daiquiris assorted flavors, American coffee, Mexican wine. *For safety reasons, straight shots are not provided; alcoholic beverages are served as mixed drinks only.

Once you have finished your delicious lunch, you may enjoy the facilities at Playa Mia. You will have approximately 1.5 hours of free time. Pick your spot to relax, either beachside or poolside, and enjoy the shopping areas, non-motorized water sports, beach volleyball, and more! 

At the end of this fantastic day, climb back onboard your transportation and you will be returned to your original meeting place close to your Cozumel cruise ship pier.

Playa Mia Beach Park Attractions: Bars, restaurant (for additional food purchases), beach, pools, Twin Pool Slides (largest in Cozumel), Oasis Pool with Hydro Massages, kids pool, floating water park (Ocean), Underwater Mayan City, shaded shopping area, supervised kids club, beach volleyball.

Playa Mia Amenities, Games, Activities, and Services (included): kids games, showers, dressing rooms, restrooms, lifesaving service and supervision, rescue boat, center for First Aid and Paramedic, Wi-Fi, lounge chairs at pool and beach, Hobie Cat sailboats, kayaks, pedal boats, water tricycles, floating Mats and inner-tubes, bungee trampoline, ping pong, hammocks, snorkeling (gear at additional cost).

Playa Mia now has restrictions on sunscreen use in order to help fight the spread of White Band coral syndrome. Use of ANY type of sunscreen, sunblock, and suntan lotion is strictly prohibited. All guests must shower BEFORE entering either the ocean or Playa Mia pools. They suggest the use of long-sleeved UV-filtering shirts, hats, and sunglasses. Coral, fish and all other sea creatures thank you for your cooperation!

• We suggest you bring a swimsuit, sun protective clothing, towel, cash for tips and additional purchases, etc.
• Additional items/services are available at an additional charge: lockers, umbrellas, towels, hair braiding, additional beverages other than listed on the domestic open bar menu, a la carte food, snack bar food, massages, photos with macaws and iguanas, snorkeling, shopping (handcrafts, clothing, souvenirs, jewelry, cigars, beach gear and more).
• Lockers can be rented for $6.00 USD per locker (plus a $6.00 USD key deposit).
• Umbrellas and beach towels are available for rent for $4.00 USD plus a $4.00 USD deposit.
• Snorkel equipment is available for rent at $16.00 USD.

Where we meet

For the Cozumel Mexican Cooking Class and Playa Mia Beach Break Excursion, your meeting location is just outside your cruise ship terminals. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• The minimum participation age is 14 years old, maximum age is 70.
• The minimum height is 5 feet, maximum height is 6 feet 9 inches due to table workstation heights.
• This excursion is not wheelchair accessible or appropriate for those with difficulty standing for long periods of time.
• Guests must be self-sufficient and must be able to stand for at least 90 minutes. Participants must be able to descend and ascend stairs.
• All guests must comply with the specific rules of each individual activity inside the park.
• Participants must comply with all the instructions given by the Chef and the staff.
• Underage participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
• The legal drinking age in Mexico is 18 years old.
• Playa Mia may require, at its sole discretion, a valid photo ID as proof of age for the consumption of alcohol.
• Some beach services and attractions may be subject to age, height, and/or weight requirements/restrictions.
• Non-motorized water toys, services, and activities are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• You want to cancel at any time, for any reason, before or after your arrival. Simply contact us via email reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com within 14 days of your missed excursion date for a deposit refund.
• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location.
• Your ship misses/skips the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator to run the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the tour operator or guest may send doctor's note).
  
• Cancellations that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund. Guests must notify us within 14 days after their excursion date via email for requesting a refund of booking payment made to Shore Excursioneer.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
