After meeting your English-speaking driver/escort, you will depart your pier area of Cadiz and travel to Jerez, approximately 30 minutes away. A map of the Jerez city center and an emergency contact number will be passed out during the transfer. You can plan out your day and sightseeing strategy for your self-guided, self-paced day.
On arrival to Jerez, you will be dropped adjacent to the Plaza del Arenal. Your escort will point out the meeting location and time to meet in the afternoon before setting you free in this quaint city. You will have approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes to explore, shop, taste, sample or just soak in the charm of this classical city. Nearby are San Miguel Church and San Marco Church, each with hundreds of years of history. Visit the Alcazar, a former Moorish fortress from the 11th century. The Cathedral and Plaza del Cabildo both display some classic Spanish architecture. A visit to the Central Market or a Palace House might also be interesting.
Another option is to taste sherry at nearby Tio Pepe or Bodega Lustau. Entrance fees range from 13 - 16 euros, depending on how many glasses of sherry or tapas you wish to include over the 90 minute visit.
Across town is one of Jerez's most popular attractions, The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art Foundation. It is home to the foundation, school, museum, stables, arena and of course, the world famous dancing horses.There are excursions available daily to see the Royal School and stables. There is also a Horse Carriage Museum at an additional charge. Between March and December, each Tuesday and Thursday (occasional Friday and Saturday performances as well) at noon the horses perform their 90 minute show. If you will be in Jerez on a Tuesday or Thursday, secure tickets online as soon as possible. Performances sell out months in advance.
Alternatively, just enjoy a sidewalk cafe for a bite of lunch and wonderful people watching. The choice is yours.
At the appointed time and location, you will rejoin your escort for the 30-minute drive back to Cadiz where you will be dropped off at your Cadiz cruise pier.

Cancellation
For the Cadiz Explore Jerez On Your Own Excursion, we issue full refund for your deposit or full payment to us if: Canceled by client prior to excursion date with a minimum of 24 hours prior notice by email to reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com.
For cancellation reasons below, you must contact us via email within 14 days after your excursion:
- Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
- Your ship skips/misses the port.
- Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
- A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
- Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
- Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
