Gibb's Hill Lighthouse is located on a small hill in Southampton Parish. The base of the lighthouse is approximately 245 feet above sea level and has a height of 117 feet. This is one of the oldest cast-iron lighthouses in the world and was designed by London-based civil engineer Alexander Gordon. The lighthouse overlooks the South Shore and Little Sound, offering spectacular views of both the City of Hamilton and the Royal Naval Dockyard.
Up next, you'll head to the City of Hamilton, the capital of Bermuda. Here you'll have some time to explore and see the charm of the old Capital or visit some of the local stores to do some shopping.
Your next stop is St. George's Town, where the founder of Bermuda, Sir George Somers, and his men, were said to have landed in 1906 after their ship was wrecked at a nearby reef. The town is steeped in history and is designated a UNESCO world heritage site. You will have 45 minutes to explore the old town, do a bit of shopping or grab a bit to eat. You might even get a chance to see Bermuda's history come to life as the St. George's Town Crier conducts an 18th-century trail.
You will also get the chance to walk along a pink sand beach located at John Smith's Bay and feel the surf of the clear blue water. The pink sand beach gets its color from the thousands of broken coral pieces, sea shells, and calcium carbonate materials left behind by tiny sea creatures with red and pink shells. Don't forget to bring your camera for some awe-inspiring photo opportunities.
