On your stop at Juneau, you can learn more about Alaska and sample locally made beers on this unique excursion. This outing is open to beer lovers and those over the age of 21.
You'll first meet your guide a few short blocks from your Juneau cruise ship terminal at the brewery annex and be taken to the Alaskan Brewing Co. headquarters approximately 20-minute narrated drive north of town for your beer tasting and guided brewery visit. The company was opened in 1986 by a young couple wanting to revive the beer brewing tradition of Alaska and use many local ingredients as inspiration such as glacial water for all their beer, Sitka spruce tree tips, and Adler wood to name a few. This was the first brewery opened in Juneau since the Prohibition. Their Alaska Amber is derived from an original recipe dating back to 1907! The brewery now is one of the most award-winning craft breweries at the famous Great American Beer Festival. They also offer distribution in 25 states. The knowledgeable Brew Crew will give you the history of the Alaskan Brewing Co. and information on how the beer is brewed. Public access is prohibited inside the production room by law.
You'll also learn some fun Alaskan history and facts about the state, Juneau, and more about beer. The team is happy to answer questions and trade stories of beer brewing, as well as their eco-friendly production measures, so ask away! At their beer tasting bar, you'll be able to taste 3 of the award-winning flagship beers and fan favorites not offered anywhere else on tap such as their Crew Brews, Rough Drafts and Tredwell Aged Series. All the beer is brewed and bottled right in Juneau...craft beer at its finest! Your stay at the headquarters and sampling is approximately 35 minutes. You will then enjoy a custom flight of 3 beer tasting samples in the lounge to round out the day! Your stay at the lounge is approximately 30 minutes. Your excursion will end back at the meeting point where you are welcome to browse the extensive selection of Alaska Brewing Co. t-shirts, hoodies, giftware, and more for sale. Or just wander around downtown, shop, sightseeing, etc. before you return to the ship at your leisure (time allowing).
Please note that 100% of any monetary tips you give your Alaskan Brew Crew go directly to local non-profit organizations such as the local Helping Hands Food Bank and others.
Adults only fun at the Alaskan Brewing Company! You'll be able to taste 6 four-ounce samples and a guided view of the brewing and bottling operation.
