Cayman Islands is a World-Class SCUBA dive cruise shore excursion destination, now is your chance to see and explore the beauty below the clear and warm ocean waters! Grand Cayman offers accessible shore diving to great coral reefs with little to no current. It is the ideal environment for beginners to Discover SCUBA Diving!
Your Discover SCUBA diving shore excursion begins when you arrive at the PADI Dive Center, 15 minutes prior to your excursion departure time. You will be greeted by your PADI dive instructor and after completing your registration (including the mandatory medical waiver), you will be ready for a brief introduction to exploring the underwater world of Grand Cayman.
On the beach, you will receive basic safety training and guidelines and have time to get familiar with the beginner SCUBA diving excursion equipment. Your PADI dive instructor will show you all the skills needed for your first discover SCUBA dive, all under his professional and certified supervision. Then it is time to gear up and go diving!
In the shallow water, you will practice a few more scuba skills to prepare for your real diving adventure. The instructor will be by your side helping, encouraging, and assisting at all times during this beginner diving cruise excursion. When you feel comfortable, you will enter deeper water. You can expect to spot lots of tropical fish such as sergeant major, parrot-fish, damselfish, grunts, butterfly-fish, angelfish, yellowtail snappers, and very possibly even sea turtles during your dive.
The open water dive from shore is on the "Wreck of the Cali", pieces of a wreck and reef site less than 50 yards from shore, in 24 feet of water. It is a perfect site for beginners. There is an abundance of interesting marine life and things to see including winches, boilers, ribs, and hull plates encrusted with sponges and corals.
All too soon, your Grand Cayman Beginner Dive Excursion will be finished and you will follow your instructor back to the beach. When you get back to the Dive Center, you can walk back to the Georgetown Tender pier and keep enjoying your day in Grand Cayman.
Please note that this Discover Scuba Diving Excursion does not qualify you as a certified SCUBA diver but will give you a good idea of what it is like and adds points to any real open water scuba dive certification!
